It's mistake in OP the P2P port is 22706, you should forward 22706 port to raspberry.
To change default number of connections add following line into .conf file:

50-100 connections should be fine to support network.

just paste this into console: setgenerate true -1 #this wil use all cpu cores, you can use 1,2,3.. instead of -1 to set number of cores to use
to disable mining: setgenerate true 0
reward is 0.01 ENRG for valid block though
