It's because the difficulty does not adjust fast enough. There was only like 7 KH/s, then it quickly spiked up to almost 40 KH/s right when the retarget came. So now the chain is stuck because the difficulty is much much too high after the hashrate went back down to around 7 KH/s. Once the diff retargets, I think we'll be okay.

what is the hashing algorithm?
Dev said it is some sort of mix between scrypt and sha256. There is only an in-wallet miner. I'm getting about 4-5 KH/s with my laptop's i5 CPU that does 3.3 GHz on 4 cores.

I like this a lot. Very innovative stuff. More transparency about the obvious premine would be nice though. in the "Screenshots" section on the website you can see a wallet at around block 6200 with a wallet ballance over 10k FAI. Whatever though, it is their "salary" I guess
I had 60-80% of the hashrate for a while this morning. I had no way to adjust the miner difficulty so I ended up with like a 50-70% reject rate which suckkkkked lol
