As been said above the comparison is very misleading but it's a good opportunity to clear some of the misinformation presented
open source:
Sendchat - currently does not have any public applications.
GetGems - Android application is live on Google Play (
http://bit.ly/1JgKLbN) - during the beta development phases the source code will not be available to the public. The client side application will be open sourced once we have performed the necessary quality assurance and security analysis to ensure this process will not put our users at risk. It is important to emphasize that all currency-related transactions are currently based on open source code (Counterparty). GetGems Android App Showcase video:
http://goo.gl/bXaeocPlatforms:
Sendchat - currently does not have any public applications (they said they are working on the Android app, and it will take them months more to have the iOS app. It won't be possible to support 8 platforms with the 20 btc they have currently raised)
GetGems - The current app priority list is as follows: (1) Android, (2) iOS, (3) Web/desktop (this covers about 90+ percent of the market share)
User base:
Sendchat - 50M Telegram user base plus Sendchat user base (Currently no application).
GetGems - 50M Telegram user base plus GetGems user base (1,000 - 5,000 Installs). Both Android and iOS apps will be utilizing Telegram open source code to bootstrap users.
Security:
Sendchat - We haven't seen any public information regarding their security mechanism.
GetGems - he app makes significant effort in securing the wallet, encrypting all secrets and making sure your sensitive data never leaves the device. The passphrase for accessing your wallet is encrypted locally on the device. This makes usability better because instead of typing in the entire passphrase every time you want to send BTC/GEMZ to friends, you just need to type in a PIN. But, this also means that if a thief gains access to your physical device, they will have an encrypted copy of your passphrase. In order to decrypt your passphrase, the thief will have to guess your PIN. After several failed attempts to guess the PIN, the server will lock your account and prevent decryption.
Send Altcoins:
Sendchat - ogecoin, Darkcoin, Sendcoin - The reason they have created Sendcoin is because they say bitcoin has a slow confirmation speed, but if they add Dogecoin I don't understand the added value of sendcoin.
GetGems - Initially users will be able to send each other only Bitcoin (BTC) and GEMZ, however as development progresses we are likely to expand the wallet functionality based on the preference of our user base. Every GetGems user automatically gets his own counterparty wallet, thus we are able to add any counterparty token very easily. It's also important to note that btc and gemz serve different target audiences within the GetGems ecosystem. btc is aimed towards users with crypto background, who probably already own BTC and are familiar with it. These users will enjoy a convenient method to send btc to their contacts (ie. without typing addresses). Gemz is aimed towards the common user who doesn’t have a crypto currency background. Since gemz are rewarded for network contribution, these users will own gems just from operating within the network. For scalability, to allow a large number of users who will be sending and receiving small amounts of GEMZ tokens using the Bitcoin blockchain normally requiring fees, GEMZ will utilize a hybrid system for on-chain and off-chain transactions. This allows most GEMZ transactions to be instant and with no fees.
Exchange CryptoCoins to Fiat Currencies:
Sendchat - integration with cryptocaptial
GetGems - our goal is to enable quick and easy purchase of GEMZ/BTC (ie. via credit card), the possible problem is not the integration but regulatory issues which we are learning.
Creators Market:
Sendchat - don't know what they are planing to do.
GetGems - we are working on adding very cool stickers to the application. Also one of the biggest Japanese groups creating stickers for LINE (
http://line.me/en/) wants to create stickers for GetGems and we are exploring this field with them.
SendChat Store:
Sendchat - don't know what they are planing to do.
GetGems - there is ALOT of things to do before this as explained above.
Airdrop referral program:
Sendchat - no airdrop
GetGems - GetGems enables users to profit from using and promoting the application incentivizing viral growth. Every privately held social network (ie. Facebook, WhatsApp) profits from user contribution to the network (users introducing other users). The GetGems model revolutionizes this industry by rewarding users directly for their relative network contribution. Contribution is measured by the number of active daily users which were introduced by you to the network so far. The GEMZ are “dropped” into the users’ wallets, hence the term “airdrop”.
Attention economy model:
Sendchat - no real in-app value for sendcoin yet.
GetGems - We are building a social system based on attention economy. If someone wants your attention they need to pay you directly with Gemz. The cost to send such an unsolicited message is dependent on the relative popularity of the recipient using a bidding system commonly employed by Google. More info on the "Airdrop" reward and Attention economy models can be read here:
