You also earn Gemz by viewing ads. Not much now since ad channels are small. But you do have the potential to earn good amount of Gemz when the userbase grows into the millions.

Devs are still actively updating the app (iOS still isent on android levels), and Airdrop / AE entices new users.

Also, growth in an app like this usually isn't linear, is exponential.
