We're all good at something, no1's good for nothin
Hi Everyone,

I just woke up and starting to catch up to everyone, but our coder noticed something odd last night before going to sleep (he's only human like the rest of us). Please keep in mind that mistakes do happen, everybody makes them, but it is how we deal with them that defines who we are to those around us.

He already made a fix apparently before going to bed, but we will have to do more than simply coordinate all pools since there are solominers as well. If this turns out to be true, then I see a few options.

1) Find fix and hard fork it, only human mining and bounties paid until then
  • Pros: Coin will work as promised/intended
  • Cons: Not sure how long scrypt miners have to wait until fix is finalized

2) Stop remainder of scrypt PoW, make coin purely bounty and human mining (max coin supply will drop to about 51.1 million)
  • Pros: GOODs already earned will not be lost
  • Cons: scrypt miners will no longer be able to hash for GOODs unless we create a multipool

3) Kill the coin, fork a different coin, and relaunch GOOD - Not an option due to unpopularity
  • Pros: Coin will work as promised/intended
  • Cons: Last 6 days of hash/work/clicky would be for nothing

4)Coordinating a time when all pools and solo miners can update at the same time
  • Pros: Coin will work as promised/intended
  • Cons: Forks may occur if not everyone updates at same time

5) Stop remainder of Scrypt PoW and destroy remaining premine, only PoS will generate new GOODs
  • Pros: Early adopters will benefit greatly, only 300k-400k in circulation
  • Cons: No more bounties to pay out, so likely also no more new features

This will obviously be the priority of the day.

Edit: To those who think we simply copied and paste, that is not true as there are many changes that were made. It's unfortunate this issue came up today, since we were working on a new feature that make our wallet one of the most advanced wallet out there.

I'm running 3 nodes with updated wallets and doing solo mining on one of them. It's forking immediately when I find a block, and I'm losing connection from the rest of the network. Without having the majority of the nodes updated will be hard to keep up this coin. I think pools should update their wallets together at the same time otherwise there will be chaos.

First nothing wrong with wallet, it's the pools that gonna get a source update to fix the 10000 block issue, source is already fixxed for that but dev is asleep. I saw that on IRC.
Second they have always said that source is derrived from blackcoin as every other coins lately (WC, AC, CINNI, YC etc etc .. ) and BC was a clone of MINT and MINT was a clone of ...etc etc ....

SO w8 for updates on pools and when the fix is ready it's ready ... keep up doin GOOD now  Cool

I second that.  Wait for updates.  Nothing serious.

Yes it has been said that is a fork from BC, but the problem is underdevelopment, the dev should have changed the 10k maximum blocks before releasing the coin, many coins that forked from BC are now stuck on 10k block, and many of them will die, hope this one wont

If I look at github the fix was made 2hrs ago, but not tested mybe as they are asleep, I trust them to fix it becouse it's not a one team show, the coder have help from other community coders when needed so it should not be a problem.

The coin is stuck on block 10000 because some problems in the code which was fixed a couple of minutes ago (on github). I'm not an expert in these kinds of wallet updates, but it feels like this can result in a network forking. So I would suggest that the DEV team should contact first all the pool owners to update the wallet daemon at the same time in order to lower the chances of forking.

Edit: I'm talking  about 10000 PoW blocks. The PoS blocks are still generated and that's why I think that after an update the chance of forking are higher (but I'm not sure).

********

Yes, every technical error cause big problem.

Devs should be careful
This is underdeveloped coin, only copy/paste from blackcoin, dev could at least try and change the number of pow blocks, or should have made pow limited to 10k POW, not everyone can be a dev, if we can say that some only who just changed coin name is a dev, which is not!

EDIT: Hire a REAL dev, or just kill the coin, there is no other option, but hard work must be done in case new dev makes a real wallet

copy paste from BC? just lol...

anyone has trouble mine GOOD?? in every pool i see nethash = 0 and also my stake never matures... (btw i'm mining with 3.5MHs, so network cant be at 0...)
some explanation i think is needed!
Im mining at XHash, and after block 10,000 there was no more blocks found...

hi, same problem on other pools.
stuck @ block 10389
is there a fork or is it a wallet issue?

Weird but, the devs will look into it tomorrow.  Everyone is sleeping.  Smiley

i don't think it's a fork because the block # is increasing and all pools seems to be on the same block (so same blockchain).
but network hashrate shows 0.

WTmaybeS Cheesy

I have 10,500GOOD, anyone like to buy? PM me with offers, best offer maybe I sell Cheesy

Well I've made an OTC exchange for GOODcoin/BTC over here

I'll add your offer to the exchange (I hope that isn't too presumptuous).

So now we have somewhere to trade GOODs and demonstrate market demand for when we want a good digital exchange (pun intended).

I can't mine so tips are welcome!

Best,

G.

Well done!! Smiley
