Companies will pay for data in DAT tokens or in other cryptocurrencies (ETH, BTC) ?

I don't know how will companies pay to datum, it probably will be on fiat.

But datum will pay in dat to people who it buys their data from.

The companies will probably get a choice in what currency they will need to pay.
DAT tokens, BTC, ETH or FIAT would be my guess.
Is that somewhere described in the Whitepaper?

For an organizational matter it will be much more feasible to use the Dat Tokens for payment in these commercializations, but an integration with Btc and ETH will be very pleasant. The only certainty is that the application of the Datum concept will bring us better days
Either way most companies, shops and vendors will want to be paid in fiat, it's more convenient for them and for tax purposes Smiley

If Datum can join the big markets it would be a big thing!
Even if they can take some power away from facebook all will win Smiley

I'm sure Datum will win in the future!
Its just a matter of time but it will take time. Cant wait until Datum is going live.

Keep this up devs!
Yep, Datum platform has great potential. I'm glad that I can invest and hopefully make profit on this ico Cheesy

What do you guys think about the token allocation? 51% all DAT tokens will be offered in the public token sale, 20% goes to the Datum Core Developer and 29% to a reserve fund for future expansion.

maybe, 29% is used for bounty, marketing, etc.
for 51% token sale, maybe its good amount for market circulation.
for 20% core team, i don't think its huge amount.

I also think that these percentages are a good distribution, so the distribution is good and the project secured;) good 5 days yet to the ICO  Grin

There will be algorithms which will find out who creates fake data. I don't think this will be a big problem because it's not worth the effort.

Pretty comfortable to say that algorithms will just appear miraculously, which can decide what is fake data and what's not.

And to your other argument. I think Rigorous example with Ashley Madison showed that it can indeed be worth the effort to create such fake data.
What is an example with Ashley Madison? The main task is to collect real data.

For now they cant come close to Facebook and will have to grow step by step to become of of the big players but that is understandable. The market is huge and everyone wants to stay on top.

I think fake data on a large scale like the Ashley Madison example, yes, can be worth the effort. But as an individual you probably won't take the trouble for just a few dollars more. I could imagine Datum might detect inconsistancies in your data, then you would have to create a whole fake identity.

https://blog.datum.org/wednesday-weekly-a-surprise-for-our-community-c3928dad93f0 i do not know if published here but alpha screens and report looks good
So its alpha stage already. Thats good. Hope all issues with possible fake data and data verification will be solved.

Yeah, fraud can be a killer in this industry.

The best fact in datum is that they will create a platform that will help us to see the value of the data and our data. Its a great feature and datum can disrupt the data market with that.

Somehow i am thinking that it's lower then we think. Facebook can sell our information in bulks, unlike we who can sell only individual data of ourselves.
Yes, but only for example in China, where there are 1.4 billion people, there is no facebook! I think this is not the only example..

Then how would they be able to extract their facebook data to datum and sell it in the first place? Wink

Let's hope we will be able to test it soon. I think it would be very good if they give us the opportunity to test it before the ICO.
Datum app is already available in play store but still not recommended to try, its highly insecure.

Whoever said faking data is worth the 50 cents of hard work, there are other types of personal data besides Facebook clicks that are way more valuable. Like I said before, why would Ashley Madison pay people a good salary to create fake profiles? Because it earns them more in subscriptions.

You could say the buyers of that data are the men on Ashley Madison who thought they were talking to real women.

And now Datum says in their whitepaper:

Initially the Datum Network will rely on buyers to validate data and regulate fake or invalid data

It would be quite easy to validate real or fake data; if a company receives data from 1000 people saying 50% of them are interested in buying the product, and only 25% actually buys it, they know the data is 50% invalid. Datum could then check those 1000 people and look for inconsistencies. Suspicious profiles could be banned from selling their data as a result. I don't know actually, it seems highly difficult to completely get rid of fake data, I mean how many of us have ever lied on the internet? 99,9999999999% doesn't seem like an exaggeration

There will always be fake data. Its not possible to get rid of that.
Datum will do there best to minimize fake data so the data that is sold has more value. Cant wait to check out there platform Smiley.

BTW: i never lied on the internet  Roll Eyes

But there is still the question how Datum can decide what data is real and what isn't. Or will it be the case that, whoever buys the data is responsible for that and will just offer you less if he finds out the data is faked?

That is the big problem Datum will have to address and find a solution if there even is one. I think you cant put responsibility in buyers hands since their agenda in not to pay for fake data and the seller has to make sure it is real.
There will be algorithms which will find out who creates fake data. I don't think this will be a big problem because it's not worth the effort.
