It won't kill your phone as you won't be doing any actual mining. It's just the "idea" or "simulation" of mining. The actual mining will be done by regular cpu mining pc's with same way as monero or bytecoin does (fork note algorithm)

I have a question about mining that I asked on the electroneum FAQ a few weeks ago.

So the algorithm is cryptonote. I know that they are coming out with a miner software for the computer.
#1 can I use the software to mine on Linux?
#2 can I use the software to mine on my computers GPU and CPU?
#3 I have heard there is a 5 device limit. does my cpu and gpu count as 1 or 2 devices?
#4 can I use a different mining software that mines coins using, cryptonote to mine electroneum or do I have to use the miner the team is providing?

Also I dont know why anyone isn't really talking about the fact that it uses the cryptonote. I think since this coin is targeting people not in the crypto world, It makes more sense to them to be able to not let everyone see their balance like bitcoin. I also think the cryptonote is the best algorithm to build a coin on and this did add to my decision to invest in this coin as well.
