Downlad a wallet, wait until it syncs and after that open console and type: "setgenerate true". It will mine with your cpu.

you shouldn't get that many orphans now , i have a rate of about 33 % mined blocks of my own being confirmed rather than orphaned.  you need to add all nodes possible. Check also for anything reducing your latency to the network .
