I had plenty of doubt before about why the 45-second block time never resulted in around 1920-block reward daily throughout the mining history of Joincoin (J)- it would be expected to have occurred due to few miners and low difficulties and those few miners in the early days should have got all those number of blocks daily-but it never happened.
It is likely that the Digishield Difficulty Adjustment tends to cause the mining difficulty to jump up and down extremely when there were few miners, sometimes taking 5-10 minutes to find the next blocks. http://www.multifaucet.tk/index.php?blockexplorer=J
