I thought it'd be an actual halfing-type of update, but this is just 15%. Either way is great to reduce the coin supply, any comments if this supply will continue to "half" over time? Thanks!
Yes of course, the new block reward schedule is posted in this article. We didn't repeat it in the post above as it was specifically a notice for mining pool operators to ensure that they upgrade before the shut off date.
It shows the blocks at which halving will occur, a roughly estimated date of arrival and what the current total supply will be at that point.

Good question, the situation that you mention is a generic challenge within cryptocurrency. Is it not the case that in the technical solution you have to let the price automatically adjusted to fiat?
