The DAO idea seems fair, it gives equal opportunity for everyone no matter how you look at it. But with or without it LISK can stand on its own.

I would be more interested in LISK if they had plans like this to gain actual users.

I presume that with enough funding, Lisk could have such Dapp developed (with any core modifications needed to support it).
My suggestion at the moment to use Eth Dao is for Lisk itself specifically, to provide full transparency and community control over release milestones, which as Exp just illustrated, has the potential to attract more people than a regular ICO or premine.

Actually, now that we are talking I remember Max himself has suggested a similar model, by intending to launch Lisk in form of a Decentralized Startup (https://blog.lisk.io/lisk-a-new-approach-90f25a53dd59#.dh2w4o3zf).

So I presume he meant either DAO or a concept close to it, and using Eth DAO contracts could be a great solution to both launch Lisk itself, and learn from Eth for a future adoption to Lisk Wink.

The DAO is the idea of the future. Not only is it good for development consensus. It's most useful for attracting users as shown here by Jesse Couch:

some eth clone that got pumped today but won't discuss here incase spam..any over pumped now but i like how they release the funds to the devs by voting and that releases funds for all kinds of projects. If possible all projects should follow that MO

This is actually a great idea, and it allows creating full transparency that we apparently missed in Crypti.
Thanks to DAO voting, the process could be done quickly, and release milestones according to predefined schedule, pending team reaching said milestones.

Here is how the process works on Eth:
https://www.ethereum.org/dao

While there is no such mechanism in Crypti, we can actually use Eth for this, by creating a Lisk DAO entity on top of it, and having all Lisk investors receive a Lisk Dao token they could use for voting (or even trading?). This will allow leveraging Eth for a quick decision making process.

Moreover, it might even bring more investors as this model provides more transparency and influence, and also will have higher chance attracting Eth holders as it utilizes Eth advanced capability.

If Max and Olivier don't object to this transparent model of community voting for milestones release (as it done in EXP), I will look into this in more detail, and even give a try at coding the first version of the DAO contract.

Be better to make it like exp where the dev fund is locked in and release is voted for by the community. best way ive seen to do it so far.

What's exp?

+1.  ETH is in a big bubble right now.  Bubbles pop.  Be very careful with ETH.  Why not let them do their own conversion to BTC first?

I expect the Lisk devs' thinking may be to accept ETH, due to Lisk being its competitor. It's a way to draw attention to Lisk. The only problem is, if ETH is still on the rise at the time, no ETH people will convert the coin over... too risky for them. If in decline, then bubble may really pop after the ICO and the devs will be holding a lot of devalued coins. A lot of things can go wrong with accepting ETH, both for the Lisk devs and those investing with it.

Just playing up the smart contract/ETH comparison should be enough to draw some interest from ETH people anyway. If bubble still expanding at the time of ICO, market Lisk as a way to get in on the ground floor of something similar to ETH ... if popped, well, then market it to ETH people who are not so happy with ETH anymore.

You may wish to rethink accepting ETH coins in a swap too... no idea how you could accurately determine a price at this time (or even in 10 days time). You may lose like half the value by the time the ICO is over... or investors will lose half their value. Either way, someone will be unhappy.

Around when will further details on the ICO be posted?

I'm mainly talking about how escrow will be handled, via an exchange or somewhere else, the date we receive Lisk... exchanges being considered for the coin after the ICO, and so on.

QUICK LISK MATH FACTS

XCR = ETH - $18.4 M

LISK = XCR + FORK

LISK = ETH - SOLIDITY + JAVASCRIPT

LISK = ETH - GPU + $35 PI 2 or $9 C.H.I.P.

LISK = ETH - GAS + DPoS

LISK = ETH - COMPETITIVE PoW MINERS + COOPERATVE DPoS DELEGATES

LISK DPoS DELEGATES = ETH MINERS - ETH MINERS + 101 = 101

LISK HASHRATE = ETH HASHRATE - ETH HASHRATE = 0

LISK COOPERATIVE BLOCKTIME = (ETH COMPETITIVE BLOCKTIME) / 2 = 10 SEC

LISK SIDECHAIN = ETH SIDECHAIN

LISK DAPP = ETH DAPP

LISK PRICE NOW = (1 /2000) ETH PRICE NOW

LISK PRICE 2017 = ?

New in the Dapp Store - The Lisk Guestbook

We just released a small example dapp into the Dapp Store. The Lisk Guestbook. Just leave your entry and say hello to the decentralized application world! More will follow! Smiley

Just go to https://login.lisk.io/, login with a random passphrase and go to the Dapp Store. There are no fees associated with the dapp, so please don't spam.

I like that. And I am excited about the systematic construction.
For example, the direct link to the source code respectively GitHub.

Install your first Dapp from scratch - Lisk Dapp Platform

Today I prepared a beginner video in which you can see how I:

1.) Setup a VPS
2.) Connect to it and setup GIT/SSH
3.) Install the Lisk client from the source code
4.) Install Lisk CLI
5.) Add my own dapp, which files are uploaded on GitHub
6.) Launch the dapp and try it out

It's only the beginning, but should help some of you guys to get the ball rolling. Smiley

To the video on YouTube!
