The address had to have at least 1 BTX in it and be registered by signed message for airdrops. This is a hybrid fork and at the beginning there was a 1 for 1 airdrop for BTC holders at the time of a snapshot. But many people failed to claim their BTX. So then they did an October snapshot and credited any address with BTC 0.5 BTX for every BTC in the address. It is up to people to claim that BTX as I did. But there were many unclaimed coins left over. These are earmarked for airdrop only so the devs are giving them out on weekly airdrops and the special Christmas airdrop until all the coins that existed at the time of the snapshot have been given away. This is way more admirable than the devs simply keeping them for themselves as so many other projects have done.
