Is there any chance we get forked because of multipools? jumps between 1gh and 30gh seem very risky for me.
I'm in this coin longterm, I've started this mining thing late December 13, have been mining Kittehcoin from day 1, I've been mining until this multipool story began, but still I've been mining other altcoins and buying all kittehs I can afford. I've strongest faith in this coin, and devs are superb. Also all my friends are in this coin with all of their funds.
I'm pretty much sure that when coin new specs kick in - price will go to 150+ satoshi. After that, when we get KGW and get stable 10GH network - the price will go 1000+ satoshi. At current Doge level success with 50gh+ - fair price is going to be 5k+ satoshi. And ofcourse after block halving at 200k - 10k+ satoshi. But my price tag is infinity, I'm in this coin to buy real life things in this currency, and won't be touching my kittehcoin until 10k satoshi for sure, only after that I will start buying something for this coin.

So what for are these prices i'm listing here? I just want to tell that new specs kick in will not help us with multipools, because prices will go up. I just have a question, why can't we move new spec closer, and KGW closer just like leafcoin did? Because of all these multipool things - we can't promote this coin, because noone wants to join a coin being raped by multipools.

Grin I think it will never hit more than 200 satoshi.......

Can't we get KGW update implemented sooner? We're doing roughly 600blocks daily, that means we will hit 1318XX block in 12 days. After that you will implement KGW, and that will take another 20days to take effect? Are we stuck in this multipool rape for another 30 days? That can possibly kill us. I suggest to kick KGW in now, and make KGW, block rewards and times to kick in at let's say 127k block (3-5 days from current 124k block).

This.

agreed

I do not agree that this will kill the coin - just slow it down a bit (seriously - Fedora and Moon and even Cat Coin, one of the most f'd up launch and relaunches are still alive). Your suppositions ignore a few important things. The changes (whether they come through in 3 or 12 days) slow down the rate of coin release, meaning you need twice the hashing power for the same number of coins. Additionally, retarget time is every 60 blocks. Yes, if the multipools hit us it will cause a yoyo (60 blocks super fast, 60 blocks painfully slow while the hashpower plummets). The big question is whether the multipools will go away with the new changes that effectively halve the block reward (by extending the target block time) and only give them a 60 block opportunity to make profit. Maybe they will and this change solves nothing. But with all the other coins out there, this change may be the first step towards stabilization. I wish the KGW was implemented initially (see my post in the original kitteh thread from January 7th where I told the devs as much and provided a link to the sourc code), but in lieu of that happening, this is not a bad start.

Is there any chance we get forked because of multipools? jumps between 1gh and 30gh seem very risky for me.

This is the risk I was talking about 1 or 2 weeks ago already, when MEOW wasn't on cryptsy or coinwarz. That wasn't really hard to guess, every single coin on cryptsy/coinwarz has this problem right now, even those with a much shorter diff retarget, or even a retarget at each block (but not with KGW).
Too bad the next fork does not have the KGW, because it will really need it. Currently diff is jumping between 10.26 and 41.041 because of the 4x max factor.
These past few days, we're only getting 700 blocks per day instead of 2880. So the fork will not happen before 11 or 12 days. Because of this situation, I'm pretty sure the dev will change their plan, as leaf's dev's did, and other coin dev's also did.

According to latest update from dev's, KGW will be in next fork, atleast the extra time can mean extra features  ; )

also there are whispers of moving fork closer

i think it may benefit the coin if it moved the fork closer to protect against the multi pool attacks.

889496794 = .88 mh
124240 is the block number.

No one is mining, cept the multipools every few hrs it goes up for about 30 mins.
If they were not bringing up the hash rate it would be a month before it hits 131xxx block.

Only cure is to mine the coin at this point.
Mess with the block chain and can cause problems.

It is up to you all what happens how fast.

Basically any transactions you do happen in the current block, and are confirmed in the next block. This means if you send MEOW to a friend in block 10,003 then it won't be "official" until block 10,004 has been written (and propagated across the network i.e. X confirmations). If a multipool comes in while diff is low (which they tend to do) they "trick" the algorithm that calculates the next difficulty rating (for MEOW this happens every 120 blocks right now) and make it super high. The multipool leaves, the diff is high, and instead of the ideal time of 30 seconds (for MEOW) per block, it sets up to be much longer (maybe 10+ minutes). If your interaction with the system happens during these "slow block" periods then you get stuck waiting for blocks to be solved before your transfer is official.

Let's keep in mind that the upcoming change to 60 second block time will half the profitability of mining this coin.

I suspect we should see a decline in multipools as a result of this.

ya we definitely will see a decline. they will not be able to attack the coin like they currently are doing.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a deposit from a local wallet to cryptsy takes? I deposited some MEOW from my windows wallet to my cryptsy wallet and it still hasn't shown up. This was over 12 hours ago. Here is my transaction info: http://kittehcoinblockexplorer.com/tx/020353a027b2a0dc82ddfaafab20db12aa6073d29887356a6e474e04222814e9

I'm not really sure what that all means so I was hoping someone could explain it to me.

Some of the delay is due to the multipools leaving after their influenced difficulty rise.. leaving the block time super high with confirm times increased.

mine took almost 24 hours to transfer. i would create a support ticket with cryptsy.

Thanks for the info.

Also new trick, with wallet open and coins not getting confirmed, start a instance of cpuminer on the coin you are trying to move.
any pool for the coin.. along with your wallet, the miner will grab network attention, you may even process your own transaction Smiley
Seems to help a lot, try it.

In the cpuminer folder from a command prompt (gives admin privilege) mine is user/xxxxxxx/cpuminer/xxxxx.cmd

minerd --url=stratum+tcp://kitteh.247mining.com:3335 --userpass=YourNameonpool.Yourworkeronpool:Anypassword

That is the info to edit and put in the command file you create: ie: MyKitteh.cmd is how to name it.

If you learn this it will keep you from getting bored, and those who know all this - please ignore

Yeah, Cryptsy is uber slow. Best to deposit 12 hours before you need it.
