A bit of positive news for cryptocurrency. While some fight against cryptocurrency and demonize it, others are using it as a tool to aid them in creative ways, which help the cryptocurrency community and helps spread awareness.

Rand Paul’s genius political move to take your donations by Bitcoin

Rand Paul, the firebrand libertarian senator from Kentucky, is running for president. And early donors to his campaign are already noting how Paul is setting himself apart from the pack.

...

Paul has long admired virtual currencies. He's even thought about ways he would improve upon Bitcoin, which, for the unfamiliar, is a form of digital cash that can be spent on real-world goods and services.

So it's no surprise that he'd turn to it as a way to juice his campaign. But there's a longer-term strategic play, here, one that speaks to Paul's appeal among tech-focused libertarians in Silicon Valley and young people who are eager early adopters of new services.

A system for easily purchasing DNotes has been high on our priority list, and we have been looking into various options in house and third party. The process moves slowly as there are a lot of legal issues in the US and we need to make sure what the DNotes team is doing is the correct way. However, if the community would like to start a trusted trader system in parallel to what we are doing that would be fine, as long as you are following your local rules and regulations that may already be in place. The DNotes team is not able to participate.

While Bitcoin Foundation struggled to get along and Industry Publications seem to have a growing preference for sensational negative headlines, DNotes pushed ahead with the last article published by six more well respected news media. Both Informational Week and EE Times had covered my previous venture, Dauphin Technology, on many occasions.

Bitcoin Alternative DNotes Focuses On Banking Solutions And Stability
While Venture Capital Investment Continues At Record Breaking Pace

Bitcoin high volatilities may have resulted in a slow down in adoption of the currency by large merchants, but venture capital funding continues to pour in at record breaking pace. Meanwhile, DNotes remained as one of the most stable digital currencies with strong focus in providing Banking Solutions and Long Term Appreciation, attracting many new investors

CHICAGO, March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- There is an inherent tendency for promising emerging technologies to be deceptive at the formative stage, especially when perceived to be highly disruptive.According to DNotes Co-Founder Alan Yong, a well regarded pioneer and visionary during the early days of mobile computers, this has clearly been the case with Bitcoin, despite often being described as the greatest technology innovation since the Internet. The Bitcoin space has received a staggering investment of almost $500 million from Venture Capital funding in 2014 alone, followed by over $200 million, so far this year.

Incumbents, who are the most direct targets of the disruption, often discount Bitcoin as a threat because of its explosive volatility and poor track record as a store of value. Bitcoin as a medium of exchange has not gained meaningful traction either. In such an environment, the immensely promising Bitcoin with the potential to be the greatest technology revolution of our generation can be quite deceptive; causing many to look back a few years from now wondering how they could have missed the early promising signs.

DNotes can best be characterized, as a second generation Bitcoin alternative digital currency. It objectively studied Bitcoin's strengths and weaknesses as well as threats and opportunities. DNotes was created on February 18, 2014 with an objective to meet the full functions of fiat currency as a unit of account, store of value and medium of exchange within three years. It decided to take a very different path since day one in building a trustworthy stable digital currency with reliable long term appreciation.

Central to DNotes long term strategic plan is the creation of highly scalable building blocks, as the foundation of its own ecosystem. Those strategic building blocks include CryptoMoms; a currency neutral site dedicated to encourage women participation, DNotesVault; a free secure storage for DNotes' stakeholders with 100% deposit guarantee with verifiable funds, and CRISPs; a family of Cryptocurrency Investment Savings Plans for everyone worldwide. The core mission of CRISP is to make the savings opportunity available to everyone; from the unborn to the most senior; from the unbanked to the super rich. The opportunity for anyone to participate irrespective of financial standing, coupled with combined charity efforts will bring about much needed financial freedom for millions worldwide.

Yong explained that, "winning strategies are most effective when executed flawlessly in the right sequence and at the most opportune time. Until there is a stable digital currency everyone can understand, trust and feel comfortable about, attempts to promote it as a medium of exchange will cost more harm than good. In the case of DNotes, the medium of exchange function will not kick until its third year; at which time many small business owners and their employees are anticipated to be DNotes stakeholders and participants in one of its cryptocurrency savings plans."

DNotes' ecosystem is strategically linked and systematically executed towards the ultimate goal of mass consumer and mass merchant adoption of DNotes as a medium of exchange in global commerce. As a digital currency it is equal to and better than fiat currency and as a technology it holds enormous power to cause a quantum shift with world changing implications.

DNotes is a cryptographically created digital currency based on a novel decentralized peer to peer model, where trust is replaced by mathematical algorithms, eliminating the need of an intermediary such as a bank or an automatic clearing house. Assets of value such as Bitcoin, DNotes, and other digital assets can be sent and received in minutes anytime, anywhere, worldwide without the oversight of any central authority. It takes as little as two simple cell phones, or computers with an internet connection to send and receive funds. It does not require, transmit, or store any personal information and the two parties do not need to know or trust each other to successfully complete the transaction at little to no cost.

The world we live in has always been dynamic, constantly reacting and adjusting to the needs for change. What we could be underestimating this time is the massive potential for job and wealth creation. We are already living in a hyperconnected world with super-computing power at our finger tips. Over five billion people will be online equipped with significantly more powerful computing power by 2020. Technologies have always been ahead of regulations. This time around the speed of an accommodating regulatory environment to promote rather than to stifle the greatest innovation since the Internet could be the greatest competitive edge among nations. Bitcoin as a digital currency coupled with the immense power of the Blockchain is the solution to many global problems confronting mankind today. There may not be another global opportunity of this magnitude a single nation can exploit to gain an enormous advantage.

Gotta say (it's why I'm here observing) that Dnotes does a far better job of offsetting the bad 'outside' press with quality marketing initiatives.

There are roughly sorta three types of coin communities:

'A' (80%): too emotionally fragile, little or no interest (or competence/experience) in marketing beyond the Net.

'B' (18%): more mature communities, but still little coherence to marketing

'C' (2%): both mature and (either reasonably or very solidly) oriented to getting the message out.

Mark

Hi Mark. Thanks for sharing your observation. I sincerely wish that "C" is higher than 2% but that may be the sad truth which will continue to haunt our industry, giving the media plenty of senational headlines.

You are correct. We believe in sending a clear and consistent message that is positive and truthful.

Is bitcoin following DNotes lead by offering bitcoin for employees rewards?

"Wall Street Bank BNY Mellon Experimenting With Bitcoin Rewards"

Developers for Bank of New York Mellon Corp have been experimenting with bitcoin for use as part of the bank’s newly created corporate recognition program, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The so-called “BK Coins” will be awarded to staff for contributions to the bank’s software development, and can be redeemed for gift cards and other rewards.

The initiative was announced by BNY Mellon CIO Suresh Kumar during a meeting last week at the bank’s innovation center. Kumar noted at the time that the bitcoin testing fits within BNY Mellon’s broader goals of exploring open-source software for the bank’s growing needs.

Kumar, according to the Journal, noted at the time that the scope of the rewards program may be expanded to cover other activities conducted by bank employees.

Kumar said of the development work:

“There is a big mindset change that comes with many of these new technologies. So if we can find a way to make it tangible, in a controlled environment like our internal employee recognition program, then we have a great opportunity to help our businesses better understand the potential value.”

BNY Mellon is the latest large bank to test the waters of digital currency.

Last week, for example, UBS announced the creation of a London-based development center dedicated to experimenting with the technology.

Just drop in briefly to say hello to everyone. I am working on a number of projects that are very time consuming and demand total focus, as well as some travel. I will not be available to post as frequently, as I like to. Please do your best help to keep this forum engaging and informative.

I share your frustration that most publications in our industry have not been helpful by focusing on sensational negative headlines. Sadly negative headlines attracts readership at the expense of others who worked hard to build something positive and of mutually benefits to many. At DNotes, we will continue to pursue what we believe is right and of positive contribution to others as well as ourselves.

This article isn't worth reading, so don't waste your time.  I was just curious if anyone has heard of a "bitcoin gun"? LOL

"Federal Agents Arrest Bitcoin Gun Buyer in Sting Operation"

                                                       Grin

IMO: Its a shame the news media is so self centered and headline driven. It does the industry no good to put the word "Bitcoin" in front of every sensational headline that may have even remotely involved digital currency or even the possibility of involving digital currency. Personally, i consider this practice very irresponsible and self serving. It's like using the word/name "Obama" in front of every embarrassing headline about various government agencies and their latest screw up, wither he had anything to do with the story or not.

And the worst part is, our own industry specific press does it as well. Almost every story from Coindesk, Cointelegraph, and others sports these sensational headlines. Perhaps they should consider that if the industry is hurt, they are as well. Very frustrating...

BTW: The text below is my comment on the article. Let's see if they print it:

""Bitcoin Gun Buyer" really? These sensational headlines are only hurting our industry and you, CoinDesk, are continually biting the hand that feeds you. Did you really need to print this at all let alone with the self serving sensational headline? Come on, grow up. You are in a position to do this industry great good, stop shooting us in the foot."

UPDATE: As I suspected, CoinDesk deleted my comment. This is a big problem and part of the reason Bitcoin et al has not advanced any farther than it has. So many interested parties out there only exist to serve themselves. If someone calls them out on it, no one else will ever know. I seem to have involved myself in another cause: Clean up the crypto press. Oh well, someone has to speak the truth I suppose...

My guess is they are hoping the sensational headlines will get the story picked up by a major news source.  How about the truth - "Bitcoin leads authorities to solves crimes that would have gone undetected with cash".

At some point I believe a news outlet will rise to the top as the industry's best, where people can go to actually find out what is really going on.

Good for you for challenging them, even if they were quick with the delete button.

It is rather comedic that they put bitcoin in the headline. If it was cash would they say "Federal Agents Arrest federal reserve note Gun Buyer in Sting Operation".

I not forget evocoins and bter coins, and some mtgox coins, are all pending to dump on markets ... i think harder days still to come for btc and evidently for all ecosystem.

Maybe is good to present DNotes proyect to this swiss investment bank and others ?

Weekend in Spain was amazing you can see traditional shows everywhere. If you are religious hope some day can travel and enjoy it, this is unique.

We will suffer some of those growing pains, but we are very optimistic.

The future relationships and projects is what we are working toward. Building the foundation with projects like CRISP programs. Dyna is working very hard to start building those relationships.

Glad to hear had a good time. Spain is very rich in culture and tradition, I'm sure it was fun.

Digital Currency is certainly not due to die.

Swiss investment bank UBS is set to open a London-based research lab to explore the application of blockchain technology in the financial services industry.

The innovation lab, due to open later this month, will be housed at FinTech accelerator Level39 in Canary Wharf – one of London's major business districts.

A group of financial technologists will lead the initiative, which attempts to bring together experts from both the banking and FinTech sectors to examine how traditional banking can drive business growth through innovation.

Oliver Bussmann, group CIO at UBS, said in a statement:

"Our innovation lab at Level39 will provide a unique platform to explore emerging technologies such as Blockchain and crypto-currencies, and to understand the potential impact for the industry."

"We are moving away from a purely in-house innovation strategy, optimising collaboration opportunities with the growing FinTech business, start-up and investor community in an open and transparent way," he continued.

The news comes after the Swiss banking giant published an extensive report in March last year outlining the widespread benefits bitcoin's technology could offer if it was co-opted by the traditional banking system.

See more @ http://www.coindesk.com/ubs-to-research-blockchain-technology-in-london-lab/

It feels as if there has been a large shift in perspective from the business world just in the last few months. From attempting to discredit it or taking a negative stance to questioning how it can be useful. As more and more companies explore the possibilities of cryptocurrency, it will create a friendly environment and increase utilization.
