You probably already know this, but the port 80/443 server is down (well, it was earlier - I switched to 9332 for my non-stratum cpu miners. I know, not much of a contributor, but every hash helps, especially with the luck we are having the last 24 hrs!)

Stratum biggest advantage is the lower number of stale shares. That's good for users, because only valid shares are paid.
Advantage of donors server is that they have less users (faster), and are available in ports that are usually not firewalled. Tha downside is that they are GetWork, so the number of stales is usually higher.
