I'm willing to bet that the dev who had been working on this coin for months delayed the release specifically because of this.
Maybe he was trying to get permission or endorsement or maybe he realized it is a potential legal battle and scrapped it.
Regardless... this is all anonymous. It would have to go pretty deep before any legal battles could really take place.

We know that some might react on this premine, but there are many reasons for this premine!
- We could have asked for donations of pools and persons themselves, but we all know 90% of you just want profit and will not donate NYAN!
- We like everyone to be able to mine nyancoin but since some can not afford decent miners and some have really powerful miners there is no way to spread the nyancoins equally,
so we are gonna use 25 million nyancoins to give away in prizes over 6 month - 1 year time ? More about the competitions below.

- We used a pre-mine for this ( we will give away x amount of coins every week for different competitions! We know the trust is low with a pre-mine ( especially one with this high amount of pre-mine ) But we will work on gaining your trust!
