OKcash reaches 2000 users on discord!

https://steemit.com/okcash/@okorator/okcash-hits-2000-users-on-discord

OKcash recently hit 2000 users on its main Discord channel! The OKCash community has grown through leaps and bounds, and has utilized discord for social tipping and general communications. Building upon social tipping, many bot features like games, and gambling have been introduced.

The OK lounge alows bot-free discussion while the general area enjoys soaks, rains and much chatter. New users are especially welcomed to discord where they can earn free OKcash, and get support as they learn about bitcoin and OKCash. If after going through the many tutorials provided by OKcash you still have questions, then you get head on over the the support area and get world class support to get you up and staking!

OKcash recently hit 72M minted coins out of a total cap of 105M coins. OKcash still has 245 days left of POS staking at 10% and then it will be reduced down to 5%. OK has progressed well through its higher inflation times to now become more scarce. At a valuation of $13M there are only a max of $2k worth of OK generated. This low inflation and staking schedule mean that users will be able to stake OK for 100's of years to come!

As demand for OKCash continues to increase, the scarcity of new coins is hitting the market. OK appears to be on a parabolic path with large month over month gains, as well as year over year.

The opportunity to jump is now.

Guys,why bootstrap not works?
Bootstrap should work. It's uploaded every months and tested before hand. It's been used by someone in the community yesterday and he was able to synchronise his wallet quickly with it.

Have you extract the file and folder in:
(Windows) "C:\%appdata%\OKCash"
(Linux) "~/.okcash"
(MacOS X) "~/Application Support/OKCash"

If you still have issues after watching the tutorials that can be found over here: https://okcashtalk.org/index.php?topic=1935.0

I gotta say...I love seeing all this communication from the team. It's very inspiring, and it seems to have spoken to some folks as I see OKCash getting scooped up left and right. Well done team.

Was there ever a plan for a mobile wallet for iphones? I thought I saw a bounty once posted somewhere. Just curious if that's something that might be in the works, cuz that would be sweet.

Yeah, so cool. I was sending and receiving some this week and I was really enjoying how fast the transactions were and the fees are so low. It spoiled me so much, I don't want to pay with bitcoin anymore Cheesy I mean, I love btc, but more as a store of a value, it's just not very good for frequent transactions.

Got ROKOS on my Rasp Pi up and running. Great to see you guys are capturing this market segment. I came across OKCash earlier as a mean of sending cash at low fees QUICKLY. Keep up the work dev team. I should maybe add: to the moon. ha ha

What do you mean with "[...] th discord is pretty much useless."? It's full of people with a lot of information. Ask a question and it will be answered. Hang around and you will know more about the coin and the community around it. Discord is the base of our community and exposure of OKCash. We're not the reddit kind of coin nor one of the hype coins.

Maybe Discord is just not bit1232's cup of tea. It's certainly not mine. To be honest, I wish the community enjoyed the forum post type format a bit more, but if Discord is working for most, then the community has spoken and I'll accept that.

I just installed Discord a 3rd time and want to understand it without having to constantly ask others, but I see no menus or pages in there where I can find more info, so maybe you can help to answer some questions I have, that will also benefit others here who may have the same questions.

1) Where can I find a complete list of commands I see people typing?
2) Where can they be used? Any group, or only specific ones?
3) I heard Toshi mention everyone gets a wallet in there, but I could not find a wallet address anywhere. Where is it? What can be done with it?
4) What are soaks and rains? I assume it's when people gift OKCash to others, but how does it happen? How can someone contribute on both sides? (gift and receive)
5) I don't have any urge to gamble my OKCash at the moment, but is OKBet only a Discord text gambling app? Or does it exist elsewhere?

Thanks in advance for the help...

What is the purpose of this coin?

It's a fair question I've tried to figure out myself, and while I cannot speak for the devs or the rest of the community, here's my take from a non-dev outsider looking in. I think you have to consider that when this coin launched, more crypto seemed to be going after being a payments related alternative, unlike today where more coins and tokens seem to be launched trying to solve a myriad of other/different problems.

I guess the better question might be, do we need so many coins that have a primary function of payments, and my opinion is the more the better and let the users decide which interface, functionality, and community they wish to embrace. The cream rises, but there can be many dominant players in a marketplace. Think cellphones, or IM messaging apps, or soft drinks, etc. Those who keep innovating usually keep rising, and that's where I think the OKCash devs and collaborators greatest strengths lie. (see ROKOS for an example) Do I wish sometimes there were more tools or apps being rolled out to utilize OKCash more/better? Absolutely. But I also understand that OKCash probably doesn't have these huge coffers to pay an army of full time developers (at least, I don't think lol), and that this seems to be a labor of love for everyone involved, and that says something...at least, it does to me. Smiley

Awesome explanation. To be honest, I don't think many people knew the answer to my question. That's sad though and that's why so many people are loosing money investing in scam coins. Adequate research is not being done.

Thanks for the kind words. Smiley Yes, I agree. I didn't have an answer when I first asked myself the same question too, which made me really think about it's purpose, utility, and future. I think the best of OKCash has yet to come.

But with so much uncertainty around Poloniex, and with the rising number of decentralized exchanges, the game is going to change.

Anyone still thinks Poloniex is on the brink of collapse? https://www.similarweb.com/website/poloniex.com?competitors=bittrex.com

I don't know what's up with them, but I am personally sidelining them for a long while. I waited 30 days for a ticket to be addressed (which meant funds were tied up that whole time) and received zero acknowledgement, zero communication during this time, and even zero communication after it had been finally completed. I understand they had scaling issues with this latest rush, and that can be forgiven, but if you're not going to communicate with your customers, to hell with them IMO.
