We will hold another fast auction on the bitcointalk.org, and this round will be super fast, as it last only for 2 hours. This auction will be started at Nov 24, 21:00 Beijing time, and ended at 23:00. (Beijing is at UCT+8 time zone) There will be 30 units for sale in this round, and bids started at 1 BTC.

As a suggestion, if the purpose was to get the miners out to as many people (for review, validation, etc) as possible then you should consider limiting the number of units any each individual user might bid on (i.e to 1 per user)

Cheers

Totally agree. I think 2 per user is a fair limit. Right now that seems to be about hats happening, but someone is bidded on 10, and another on 4. thats half the auction to only 10% of the users in it

Hello everyone, bidding has already started here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344948.new#new

Why the false advertising? I never saw any proof of 0.68J/GH. I only saw 2W/GH.

The core voltage of the chip on the S1 miner is 1.1V, and at this level the efficiency is 1.3J/GH on chip and 2J/GH on wall. In the next version, we will build a miner with 1J/GH on wall. Stay tuned.

Still don't understand second auction before the first winners receive their units.  Bravo for anyone who gets a unit for a decent price, this screams trouble to keep collecting funds when we have zero validation on the hardware.

And the usb's?  Are they ever coming?  Can Bitmain actually address those at some point since there are a lot of people looking for these plug-n-play devices as opposed to larger hardware?

The product looks nice, but this auction looks pretty risky to me.

This company is asking for the equivalent of hundreds of dollars upfront for a new product and buyers have zero recourse if they don't deliver (no escrow, credit card, or paypal).

I hope no-one gets scammed.

That's actually a pretty good idea IMO.

Do you guys not see that at this point, the supply side dictate terms. They will and can auction - product unseen, and will have no problems selling.  Us miners are just around for the ride until difficulty goes berserk(even more so) or btc prices crater.  One of these outcomes is assured to happen.

might i suggest waiting until wednesday, so that recipients of the first auction can test the units and report back? Hopefully my UPS tracking number isnt a 4kg pile of bricks lol

also, 2hrs is very fast, why would you expedite it like that? 12hrs is better IMO

Agree, makes no sense to do another auction until we have verification from winners that their box'o'bricks hashes like a mofo. Smiley  Builds confidence and all.

Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do.
sorry typo...  30 @1 would be sweet...  if I can get that   Grin Grin Grin

Here is another product update...  I know some of you "meanies" would say, "don't want to hear it", but for the ones who are seriously thinking about buying the unit might like to know.

After running the unit for almost 48 hours, there were few times, the internet connection was dropped.  What did Bitmain AntMiner do?  It made a lot of clicking noise from the PCB while there was no internet connection, when the internet connection came back, it start mining on it's own.  (So if you lose the internet connection for whatever the reasons, as soon as the internet connection comes back, it will auto mine BTC without any intervention)

So I can go to sleep or go to the movies without worry about miner stop mining.  Later today, I will update this with the Video or the Audio from the clicking noise when I lost the internet connection.

Also, the built-in fan self regulate the speed based on the unit temperature, I think that is why the temperature stays in 40's at all time.

I have a few things to take care of today, so it will be later when I can upload the video or audio or something.

Also, some one donated us 0.1 BTC for the review trip funding!  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

We are planning to do some VERY POSITIVE BITCOIN things on 12/9 or 12/10 or right around there in one of the BIG CITY in USA.  We may get the media's attention or we may not, but any donation would be appreciated!!!

I will be attending the Vegas Inside Bitcoin conference on the 9th/10th and would very interested in seeing this product Smiley

When the miner loses the internet connection, the miner status page seems to reset the time counter (timer) but no negative effect to the mining operation.

The last picture is the screen capture of BTCGUILD screen after on-off 50 hours of mining. (internet was disrupted a few times in the about 4-hour down time)

There are two (2) ways to tell if your miner lost the internet connection. First, you’ll hear the clicking noise from your miner. (Also the 2 small green led lights on both side of the miner will stop flashing.)  The second way is go to the miner status page and the running timer (Elapsed) will reset and start from “0”.

Here is the video to show what the minder does, when the internet connection was disrupted.  It make constant clicking noise, and the green LED on the PCB (Main PCBs for the ASIC Chips) will turn off and the fan would turn off.  When the miner regain the internet connection, the clicking noise goes away and about 30 seconds or so later, the green LEDs will start flashing again. (These Green LEDs indicate the miner is actually hashing) Then, the fan will starts.  When you go log onto the miner's control panel, the time counter on the miner's status page will be reset.
