***POOL UPDATE ***

Our Masari [MSR] pool is now SECOR Uncle Mining ready!  Come on board and try out the new uncle mining system - no more lost payouts to orphan blocks!

Please note that the algorithm has changed to CN Fast v2.
At this time only XMRig, SRBminer, and CastXMR support this algorithm; make sure to update your miners accordingly.

Pool Hopping Dilemma...

To this day, mining pool operators having been experimenting with different payout schemes to attract miners while keeping the base community content. Most of the reward schemes have been phased out, but here are some of the more popular one's . . .

PROP - Proportional. When block is found, the reward is distributed among all workers proportionally to how many shares each of them has found.

PPS - Pay Per Share. Each submitted share is worth a certain amount of rewards. It is risky for pool operators, hence the fee is highest.

PPLNS - Pay Per Last N Shares. Similar to proportional, but instead of looking at the number of shares in the round, this scheme looks at the last N shares, regardless of round boundaries.

Every now and then these pool hosts notice an unethical miner trying to game the system by connecting to pools right after a block is found. This becomes extremely irritable after awhile, especially if your pool has gone through some extremely unlucky long blocks.

When the base miner's notice their payouts are being affected by these so called "Pool Hoppers or Pool Rampers", they tend to gravitate toward pools that use different Paid Per Share schemes. These type of reward system benefit the loyal miners and sure one's payouts will be saved from "Bad Luck" or "Bad Acting Miners", but you also lose out when your particular pool has those moments of "Good Luck".

Dealing with it...

After noticing an increasing amount of pool hopping across the public mining pools, The Block Foundry decided to take charge and protect their loyal miners. Instead of changing the payout structure, it was decided banning particular IP's who have been taking advantage of their miners and PROP payout system seemed fair. Thus, effectively giving the community member satisfaction knowing they will profit from their good luck blocks.

The founder of The Block Foundry, Sixlitr, is attentive and quick to respond to any issue one may have. This is a fair and ethical bunch who welcome anyone with open arms. You'll find a solid group or new and experienced miners all working toward the same goal, finding blocks!

Come grab a drink in the Discord and introduce yourself at The Pub, admit your mining addiction at Hashaholics Anonymous or show us your pc pr0n! Join the growing friendly bunch who are committed to embracing the Mining Community.

Notifications will go out when your workers disconnect, and also when they reconnect. Our email notification templates are across all pools and removing some functionality at this point would affect everyone on the pool. Some miners like to see the block notifications as well. We will consider your suggestion as we work to make the pools better for all miners in the future. Thanks!

Glad to hear it! We would love to have you stop by our discord, we can always use experienced miners to share knowledge points. My explanation was more for the benefit of everyone reading, in case they are newer - so good to hear experience talking, based on your past experience adding to the thread.

We can talk further about EU nodes also, sounds like we may be able work something out.

I am testing your pool XTL now, and want to receive notification on email when my workers will stop, how can i do this? In settings on site i only see : "pool will send out email notification when a block is found and whenever a payout happens"! WHAT THIS? What for? I do not want to receive payment notification, i want to receive notification on email when my workers will stop, it's the most important!

We have not added any EU pool support as of yet, we would need a decent core group of miners to make another pool first (but it is planned).

Concerning luck, regardless of the pool over a longer period of time all pools invariably operate at around 100%...it's simply based on math and it's a rule that can only be bent in short time hacks. Pools can have bad "luck" but then will eventually have periods of good "luck" as well.

The idea behind The Block Foundry is to help miners become better and more knowledgeable miners all around. Whether you choose to use our pools or not, our mission to to help miners understand the difference between the truth and the marketing hypes and misconceptions in the crypto-space. Most of what we provide is information free of charge to help the block chain revolution. Miners are in integral part of many projects and it's imperative that small to medium sized miners don't become disillusioned and squished out by large operations which leads to centralization.

I have been mining for more than four years, and I know how luck and pools work. In theory, you are right, but in reality there are very few fair pools! I worked a month on one pool and luck was 105% and about 3% underpaid! where is the logic and mathematics? I try to always work with pps pools and stay with them for a long time! I could allocate to the Eu server about 30 Kh/s on XTL or 60 on Masari and try work with you some time.

I am unaware of any such pools for MSR or XTL and I have never seen mention of any in the community listings. They are high risk for pool ops and are not very common because larger miners can take advantage of that type of system along with pool hopping.

You might consider giving our pools a try, they function essentially the same, payouts just don't happen on a time schedule but on a block schedule.

Yes, but then luck is usually not on the miner's side for some reason! Do you have eu servers? My ping with your pool now about 170ms!

On the first page you wrote what a payment method is PPS !  This is true?
I'm looking for such a pool!!

It is almost true 😉 ... Our pools are RBPPS, Round Based PPS. There main difference between RBPPS and PPS is that payouts only happen after a block is found, and there is no payout for orphaned blocks.  We have also enabled slush scored mining on some of the pools to prevent pool hopping and hash ramping, so miners can be assured if they stay on the pool they won't be shorted out of all thier work.

No. I'm looking classical PPS pool MSR and XTL! Do you know where to find it?
