ran it without the datadir flag so it would see the normal user local appdata folder, moved the conf file in there.  it runs but shuts down within 5 seconds..
Does it say anything? Same error with the blkindex?

it started up but shuts down while loading error loading blkindex :/
Oh that happens if you don't have the right config file. Try sticking the config in "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\ShinyCoin\shinycoin.conf"

im ready! just need windows :p  my mac does not have 15 gb ram... or even 12, or 8..
(also the mac wallet freezes and debug window says shinycon :p )
Really nobody made a windows wallet yet in all this time? Fine, fine, here you all go. Tested with latest code (so I called it v0.2). Here is how I ran it:

1) Extract to C:\shinycoin
2) Make a C:\shinycoin\data subfolder
3) Put the config file in "C:\shinycoin\data\shinycoin.conf"
4) Run from the command line with "shinycoin-qt.exe -datadir=data"

The difficulty is taking a bit too long to adjust, so I have posted a fix to the github.  Please update your wallets before block 8 is reached, which at this rate will be an hour or two.  The difficulty will drop sharply, and then re-adjust properly.  The rewards are still very small for the next few hundred blocks so it is okay if a few blocks go too quickly.

I just got the chance to sit down to my computer and start to mine this coin on 2 of my servers.
But the blockhight I get is only 3. Can it be that only 3 blocs are mined altogether 5 hours after the launch?
Does this mean that i'm just wasting my time and energy with this coin?

Yes, the initial diff was set too high. Undefined (as in not provided by the dev) number of blocks carry a small reward. At this rate it will take months to get to 400SHN reward/block  Grin Grin

Grin OK. tanks for the quick answer. I am out as well.
Definitely the developer should have invested more in QA and everything in general. The wallet daemon requires 15Gb ram even if setgenerate is false. This means "regular" users wont be able to use the wallet.

wow, even without mining it needs 15 GB?

Fucking noob, learn how to compile windows binaries

You really do have anger management issues don't you?

You're getting boring, time for me to find the ignore list function on these forums.

I have made a standalone miner for this coin, Linux only for now and sources will be released soon. Download : https://www.dropbox.com/s/dbfxvmoryekyq5i/shinyminer
Usage:
Code:
./shinyminer -o http://127.0.0.1:PORT -O USER:PASS -t 1
Warning! Each thread uses 15 GB of RAM.

What is the current difficulty on this coin atm and is it worth mining on 1x 8 core system or is this a type of coin you need cloud servers to mine with ?

If we would finally get a Windows Version, the coin would have a chance! There are very many Windows users around. Why did you decide to ignore them from the start?
