The API's for the market data were a complete mess and once Mintpal changed the pub APIs this also required a complete API rewrite, which bishop handled. The latest SILK wallet is horrible slow when syncing, it downloads exactly 500 blocks and then pauses for dozens of seconds while complaining about failed proof-of-stake.
Yes we have issues with slow sync. There is also a few sticks, where the client needs to be restarted. Best fix fir now is to goto https://github.com/silkcointemple/silkcoin/releases/download/v1.1.0.17beta/SC-BlockChain-89216-win32.5.2.zip
And unzip the blockchain from 90k into the silkcoin folder before startup. We will add a full blockchain download in the new release.

I just did a giveaway on Poloniex. Just said that I've got 500 SILK to the next 5 people who post an address in the next 5 minutes.
People loved it, of course.
