Thanks for the bootstrap but i couldn't get the files stitched together in Ubuntu. I tried a few different ways. I haven't got Windows cos my friend says it gives you knobrot. If possible please could you upload it as a .tar.gz or something like that, or just the whole .dat to mega. Thanks! And wot's a weaver?

No.

I will do one better.

What I will do is this. I will create another release on the Github as a tar.gz Cheesy

Cheers!  Smiley

In fact just .tar

Uploading now, will notify once live.

that would be great, the version i downloaded and stitched together failed to load "fast" as promised.
what is the estimate for the bootstrap.dat update to finish?

Well we are talking over 1 million blocks.

In terms of an estimate, it is hard to say because it is down to processing power, memory in your computer and other varying factors.

ok i will try it again with your .tar update

I'm uploading the last part now.

https://github.com/SCDeveloper/Silkcoin-Blockchain-Bootstrap/blob/master/ReadMe

Just need to add MacOSX instructions to it.

bootstrap.dat Checksum: 711742758 485064414

Silkcoin Blockchain Bootstrap Instructions
==========================================
Navigate to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Silkcoin (This directory is normally hidden)

Open Start Menu and type: %appdata% and hit enter.

Place bootstrap.dat in the Silkcoin data directory:

Remove all files in directory EXCEPT FOR WALLET.DAT

Start the Silkcoin client.

It will read the file to create the blockchain.

The file will be renamed to bootstrap.dat.old when this has completed and at this point the bootstrap.dat files can be removed.

Information
-----------
bootstrap.dat allows a new Silkcoin client (not synced) to rapidly import the initial blocks from a local file instead of slowly downloading blocks from random peers.

This significantly reduces the time it takes to get a client synced with the current blockchain.

The import process can be even faster if you use the -dbcache=500 command line parameter which uses an additional 500MB of RAM for the database index cache as the current size of the bootstrap.dat is 462MB in size.

How to show hidden files/folders in Windows, Linux and Mac
----------------------------------------------------------
In Windows you can show hidden files and folders by navigating to View->Options->View and then select "Show Hidden Files and Folders".

In Linux you can simply press Ctrl+H.

In MacOSX open a terminal and enter "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE; killall Finder" and to hide them again enter "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE; killall Finder"

no mac client.. make mac client? badass wants one for sometime, as others wouldnt mind im sure.. i hate mac tho.. so no biggy my mac i beat up with gloved fists when it told me to buy the third adapter..

OK I will have to sort out my MacOSX build environment. Give me some time Wink

bootstrap.dat did I hear you cry?

https://github.com/SCDeveloper/Silkcoin-Blockchain-Bootstrap

(This is a bootstrap.dat of the Silkcoin Blockchain up until Block 1,014,647)

Please read the ReadMe file Cheesy

Sweet thanks Mr shadowy silk dev.  For newb instructions on bootstrapping your chain to not take two days to sync please pm else post in the thread.

As per initial blocks from ages ago still may have issues from the old devs brutal forks so restarts may be required.  Else download the bootstrap double check the checksum and yer good to go.

All info is in the ReadMe included in the download.

READ THE README THAT'S WHY THEY EXIST!!!!

Also in terms of the work done, I have spent a few months on this project and I am still committing daily.
