To upgrade your wallet to v1.5.1.1 we recommend that everyone:

1. Close any Sterlingcoin wallet.
2. Download Sterlingcoin v1.5.1.1
3. Clear all files from the data directory EXCEPT: wallet.dat file, sterlingcoin.conf file (if exists), and peers.dat file.
    a. Windows data directory is: C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Roaming\sterlingcoin
    b. Linux data directory is: /home/[YOUR USER NAME]/.sterlingcoin
4. Download the bootstrap (follow the readme file at https://github.com/Sterlingcoin/Sterlingcoin-Blockchain-Bootstrap)
5. Launch your new wallet. It will take 30 - 45 minutes for the wallet to open while it imports the bootstrap blockchain data file.

Of course if you have any question, please feel free to ask here in the thread or by private message if you prefer.

With your help of running the new version, we will be well prepared for the coming fork. Thanks everyone!

Windows wallet - https://github.com/Sterlingcoin/Sterlingcoin-1.5.1.1-Lite-Edition-Linux-Source/releases/download/32bit/Sterlingcoin.exe

BLOCK HEIGHT 304,524 | Blockchain DAT file - https://github.com/Sterlingcoin/Sterlingcoin-Blockchain-Bootstrap/archive/master.zip

Everyone must download the blockchain file and delete everything in their hidden data directory except for the wallet.dat, peers.dat and sterlingcoin.conf file.

Again DO NOT DELETE YOUR WALLET.DAT/PEERS.DAT or STERLINGCOIN.CONF files.

This is to ensure we are all on the correct blockchain and can continue smoothly from here and onwards from block 350,000.

Once you are synced please keep your wallet open from now to at least after the fork to make sure that we have general consensus of version 1.5.1.1 on the network.

Many thanks.

Steven is creating a bootstrap.dat file which will ensure everyone is on the same wallet.

Also Bittrex requires 42k in lost transactions that we need to replace to get the market back in line (donations to SZYaAneV1z5wp1yE9HkyRv5X3jtavkrhwU would be appreciated as we only have 20k).

Rynomster is currently building the Full and Lite editions of the Sterlingcoin wallet (right now) and will be added to the GitHub shortly.

Everyone must ensure they are on version 1.5.1.1 ASAP.

Linux versions of 1.5.1.1 are already available on the GitHub.

Tell all the exchanges, nag the services, help us make this fork go smoothly.

Many thanks,

Us the Sterlingcoin devs.

Thanks for getting back to me.  Again, no need for apologies, I fully appreciate how busy every member of the team must be.

Glad to hear you're all making progress on the wallets.  I reckon 50000 blocks until the fork should be sufficient time.  Wink

Keep it up guys!!   Grin

@DEV guys: any news? We again missed another planned date (7th Sep), no wallets are available and again no information provided. Any real planned date when we can have at least wallets ready? We need to act immediately as coin is going to die and without wallets and trading we cannot help you ...

I am sure that we all appreciate the fact that the  devs are under a bit of pressure, so they need to be given time to sort all this stuff out.

That being said, the wallet situation is clearly the limiting factor in SLG's development, and until that is sorted we are going nowhere.

I don't think SLG is likely to die, but the longer it takes to fix the wallet issue the greater the risk becomes.

I really hate hassling the devs, but occasional updates here would certainly help to calm people's nerves.  Wink

Dev team, could you please post a short line once a week to update us all?

Thanks.

We had an issue last week where all of the wallets (v1.2, v1.4, v1.5, v1.5.1 in my tests) would crash on launch with the following error:

Matt, Spencer, and I quickly isolated the issue to a Bittrex API call. We removed the call and related code and pushed the changed to github as v1.5.1.1 Full and Lite edition. Bittrex DID resolve the issue on their end within 48 hours and all the wallets will launch successfully now as the API call is not failing and causing the issue.

We are working to make the wallet, and any calculations within, not dependent on values returned by bittrex and better error control for values that may or may not be returned so it will not prevent the wallets from launching. We are working to have all that ready when Mammix does find time to build.

We do apologize for this unforeseen speed bump.

Well done on that fix, and thanks for the prompt response; it is greatly appreciated.

I may have missed an earlier announcement, but who is Mammix?

Speed bumps, unforeseen or not, need not be apologised for!!  You're all doing great.  Grin

Sorry your question, "who is Mammix?", went unanswered. Mammix is, simply put, a developer with all the dependencies in place to build the windows wallet for us as we have ran into issues with the most up-to-date dependencies working correctly in our build environments. He is not a team member but, willing to help Sterlingcoin as we prepare for the fork by assisting us with the windows build.

On the topic of the fork more specifically, we passed block 300000 today and have 50000 to go before the fork.

Also, we have made progress with the Mac wallet recently, but is still not ready to release.

New service for Sterlingcoin

Hi to all Sterlingcoin community members.

I'm here to briefly present our new Cloud Staking service to your community and to announce that as an old crypto-friend of Sterlingcoin developers, i am happy to add this currency to our system. As you can see in this post, SLG will be added soon.

If you do not know Staisybit, please take a look at our Announcement thread here . You can also reach us at staisybit.com, but there still is lack of information over there; we still are in beta phase and service and team presentations have been left as last stuff to do.

Get in touch with us on Twitter (@staisybit or via email at [email protected] .

I will post here further updates.

Cheers

Thank you for adding Sterlingcoin to your service! Smiley

Good luck in the beta phase and please do keep us posted.

Thank you for information. We really appreciate ... good job done!

Glad to see Sterlingcoin getting back on track!?

TBH, regarding wallets, privacy and security etc., can't we just have a basic wallet release without any API's whatsoever. Cheers!

Let's focus again on promotion and building 'real value', such as fully decentralized backing using physical sterling silver, perhaps as I have suggested for CBX here:

This is a way forward from the current stagnation of BTC 'fix' markets.

- Herewith, a fine example of a Sterling Sliver coin - http://www.sealandgov.org/stamps-and-coins/prince-roy-remembrance-coin  in honor of Haven Co. and the 'punks.  Cool
