Updated traditional client (Sol/0.8.7.3):

For Windows: https://mega.co.nz/#!x9cDxZQJ!JwVlc-tgLqTlt_Ux6vuJ1KfrPq2TLhVC7Z2RVcThWl4

For Linux: https://mega.co.nz/#!dh8h0LbS!m4nF2q0FYbFAeRkedHtC985hLZK80TDtDAVao62k4HA

Source code on GitHub: https://github.com/solcoin-project/solcoin

This is a maintenance release (version is still Sol/0.8.7.3) only meant to bring our two new Asian nodes into the hardcoded list of nodes in the client - updating is not mandatory.

The pool will be updated shortly to ensure stability on the solcoin network.

In response to rising block chain activity from Asian users, to provide faster block chain propagation, we just launched a new node in Singapore. The Solcoin team is now operating 6 nodes on 5 different geographical locations.

Update: we've added a second node for Asia, in Taiwan.

new pool for solcoin: http://sol.uuzcloud.com/index.php

Your pool seems faliure, plaese check it!

Looks like working now, they have 1.6 gh/s and putting Solcoin over 2 gh/s for the first time. Difficulty over 90!

We will observe the pool working 3 days. If it work normal, we will ANN in our thread.

2014.09.10 14:00 (UTC+8) - SoFund Foundation Announcement

From Sep. 10 to Oct. 10, 2014, the SoFund Foundation will acquire Solcoin on the open market. As the basis for its next business model, it is expected to buy up 20,000,000-30,000,000 SOL, with buying criteria of 10% above or below the 30-day moving average (30MA) of the AllCoin
12-hour. We will continue buying at the following four exchanges using these criteria.

https://ybex.co/coins (English: http://en.ybex.co/coins)
https://www.allcoin.com/trade/sol_btc
https://www.swisscex.com/market/SOL_BTC
https://www.usecryptos.com/market/SOL-BTC

The SoFund Foundation currently holds 8,000,000 SOL, and the development & applications team will donate an additional 2,000,000 SOL, increasing SoFund's total SOL holdings to 10,000,000 SOL.

Please refer to https://www.facebook.com/pages/Solcoin/1581655052060298 for the current 30MA.

Leave alone scan time and expiry, those have sense when was no LP support on pools.
We are in stratum era, and those 2 should not be used.
If you really want to use them, proper values would be scan time around 0.5 share time in P2pool and expiry 2x share time.
Queue on 0 is good on slower (GPU) rigs, if ASIC it can be worse, because miner is getting new work after finishing last one, and in some cases (lags between miner and pool) will cause loss of hash rate. Default queue is 1, it is ok in most cases.
Always check ping to pool (less than 100ms is ok) and check pool stats.

Big number of dead shares on the p2pool, I think miners are not setting their difficulty correct. For anyone using the p2pool, you should set preferred difficulty for your miner by putting +DIFFICULTYNUMBER after your payment address, and you can calculate best difficulty for your hashrate like this:

Multiply your worker's MH/s with 0.001164 to get the difficulty number

Example:

With a 1.5 MH/s miner, best difficulty will be 1.5 * 0.001164 = 0.001746, so I configure my miner with username SOLCOIN_ADDRESS+0.001746

If I have a 30 MH/s miner...... 30 * 0.001164 = 0.03492 .... my p2pool username should be: SOLCOIN_ADDRESS+0.03492

It's important you set this correct when mining on any p2pool, because it can mean a difference of up to 15-20% efficiency. Also remember to set number of queued shares to 0, low scan time and low expiry. These options have different names depending on what miner software, and some miners don't support all of them. Typical cgminer options for p2pool is "--expiry 2 --scan-time 2 --queue 0".

2014.09.09 14:00 (UTC+8) - Solcoin has been listed on the Chinese exchange Ybex

Chinese: https://ybex.co/coins
English: http://en.ybex.co/coins

Currently Ybex Exchange trades SOL with 0% fee, offering both Chinese and English interface. Ybex will be focused on as the official Solcoin trading point, and we recommend all Solcoin customers and miners to trade primarily on Ybex.

The VPS server host where the official P2Pool is hosted had a server outtage on the morning of 9th September, lasting about 5 hours. The server and the P2Pool is back online and running now, and all shares delivered to the pool up until the server crash were saved and accounted for.

Here is the omargpool failure: http://rpcace.solcoin.net/?108219

Check block 108213 in the middle with 640(!) transactions that piled up and next block after that took 3(!) hours when almost 80% of network hashrate went offline and the nice difficulty drop after that. Seriously miners you should spread out on the pools and configure failover, make use of the new Poolfinity pool and Solcoin team's own p2pool.

As more than half of the network hashrate is on OmarGPools we would like to remind miners that there is an official Solcoin P2Pool maintained by the Solcoin team

Ideal would be if miners spread hashrate out on the pools now with three pools available. Miners always fear low returns from long time between blocks so they mine on the biggest pool thinking it pays better but it's a false fear, even if only 3-4% of global hashrate is on one pool it usually yields 95-100% efficiency. Some of the "big fish" on omargpools should consider moving to the official p2pool or the new Poolfinity. This weekend showed the negative result of everyone mining in one pool when omargpool was dead for 24 hours or so, Solcoin dropped to 20% of its normal hashrate. Most miners didn't even have failover configured.

It appears that the biggest Solcoin pool, OmarGPools, has been having technical problems lately. As more than half of the network hashrate is on OmarGPools we would like to remind miners that there is an official Solcoin P2Pool maintained by the Solcoin team - stratum+tcp://p2pool.solcoin.net:8360 - and we recommend configuring your workers to use it as failover/backup.

As usual for P2Pools you set your Solcoin address as username and 'x' as password.

Block 100k was found yesterday after 224 days of mining, with an average block time of 3.2 minutes. The number of days needed for block 100k if each block had been exactly 3.14 minutes apart is 218 days.

(What this means is that mining progress has been very steady since Solcoin was launched in the first week of January.)
