Hey, guys. How your platform will interact with classic copyright record registries. For example, what happens if the same patent for an invention is registered on your platform and in the patent office by different people at same time?
Their research and investigative team has a lot of work to do here. And one more thing, what legal authorities are recognizing this platform as an institution to do this kind of asset management? Do they have collaboration with Government Intellectual Property Offices?
Also, on your website, the team members have no profile links. I believe the links are important as you are venturing the IP field.
Regarding your first question about copyrights, most people do not go through the process of registering their copyrighted work at a government office (at least for copyrights, it’s different for patents, which will explain later). Protecting, enforcing, and monetizing IP, such as a copyrighted work, is difficult of the copyright owner cannot verify the authorship or ownership of their copyrighted work. The Planchain platform makes it easy for people to obtain a proof of ownership and authorship using the immutable nature of blockchain/DLT. Also, the PlanChain platform will have an IP asset marketplace that makes it easy for people to showcase and monetize their IP assets.
A copyright is obtained the minute a work is created. But as I said previously, most people don’t take steps to formally register their copyright in a government office. There is a need for something that is easy and inexpensive that serves as a proof of ownership and authorship. Whether a copyrighted work is registered in a government office or whether it has a proof of authorship blockchain certificate via PlanChain, it is possible someone else in the world has created the same work because a copyright is obtained instantly when it is created. Even government copyright offices can’t ensure that a work hasn’t already been copyrighted. However, a person that has obtained a PlanChain proof of authorship blockchain certificate will have a time stamped, immutable proof and thus will have the advantage over someone that doesn’t. Also, the ease of use of our Planchain platform via mobile, tablet, or desktop (and the fact that it’s less expensive than a formal registration) will encourage people to use our platform. We will also release a SNAPBLOCK mobile app that can instantly give the user a proof of authorship blockchain certificate when the take photos and other media, and allows them to instantly add their photos and other media to their IP portfolios in the PlanChain marketplace.
With respect to your second question about patents, it’s a different story compared to copyrights. A user of the PlanChain platform can work with one of the patent attorneys in our network of partner IP attorneys to file a patent in the traditional process with a government patent office. The user can interface with the patent attorney using our IP vault that is linked to the patent attorney. Also, the user can obtain time stamped, proof of authorship blockchain certificate of certain documents of their invention, even though for patents this doesn’t offer the same benefits as copyrights, and will take too long to explain here. After the person files the patent application by working with our partner IP attorney, in the future after they secure a patent with the government office, they can use the PlanChain platform to sell, license, or monetize their patent. For patents, a person has to go through the formal patent process to obtain an issued patent from a government patent office in order to obtain patent protection. The PlanChain platform can make it easy for users to manage the documents involved in the patenting process, link users with a trusted patent attorney, and sell/license/pool/auction their patents. We will also offer other features for patents and copyrights that we will announce in the future.
