yes, it's quite low. I'm getting about 6 Mh/s per 280X card.

try these settings:

cgminer.exe --scrypt-jane --sj-nfmin 4 --sj-nfmax 30 --sj-time 1393167677 -I 13 --thread-concurrency 8193 -g 2 -w 256

engine clock is 1100, memory 1500, both set in Afterburner, ... but there is some space for improvement here

I'm using the scrypt-jane miner from https://sites.google.com/site/rmdavidson/ btw

The settings on that card weren't terribly important - it maxed out the GPU with pretty much anything I threw at it.

Tnx. I tried with YACMiner 3.4.2 and these settings but cmd window is black, miner doesn't work and after 1 min Windows freeze and only solution is to restart the pc.
maybe powercolor r9 290x can not mine yac algo, I don't know where the problem is.

only time I see a black screen is if it can't connect to a pool. Run it with the -T option to see what it's doing without the interface getting in the way.
