A New Paradigm for Sports Management

While the management of professional sports teams has traditionally been an insular process, the proliferation of mobile access allows for a hivemind approach to building a team. Any person with a camera and free time can offer first-hand scouting; any person with an internet connection can watch film of an upcoming opponent and offer their insight for game day preparation. FAN Token serves as the measurement of how much you know, a tangible differentiator that removes ambiguity at scale, and fan decision-making power is weighted according to their proven track record. The FCFL leverages the power and intelligence of a large network of contributors rather than rely on the limited time and resources of a select few.

Content Fit for the 21st Century

Traditional pro sports leagues continue to showcase their on-field games through a single, highly-curated broadcast, but the FCFL will be on the cutting image of video production, offering myriad angles (including experimental technology like drone and helmet cams), all at the fans’ fingertips through the app and our partner networks. We are currently finalizing a distribution partnership with a major digital media company to help bring control of our teams to the widest possible array of fans, and our decision-making functionality will be baked directly into the experience.

PROOF OF CONCEPT

We spent the past two years fine-tuning our platform and operations. Last year, we brought it to the public with the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles in the Indoor Football League (and yes, that name was voted on by the fans). The Screaming Eagles made their debut in February of 2017 as the first ever fan-controlled professional sports team on the planet, and the pilot yielded not only 100,000+ fans from over 100 countries actively streaming our games and calling plays through our app, but also a successful football team. With fans at the helm calling all the offensive plays, the Screaming Eagles had the third-ranked offense in the league, and quarterback Verlon Reed was named rookie of the year. Through partnerships with Sports Illustrated and Amazon’s online eSports video platform Twitch, we amassed millions of views, most of which came from first-time viewers of the IFL.

MEDIA TRACTION

Our preliminary work has garnered significant attention from leading media publications as the first true effort to give fans a hand in the action and merge the worlds of video gaming and real-world athletics.
