well the very first post does say to delete the wallet and the temp directory created in appdata... and install a new wallet

it is pretty clear about that.

But you said the "old" wallet was the old coin from launch 1 ?!

So its useless to keep the wallet.dat for that not more existing coins.

To change the payout address to the new wallet... well its the same as saying look left and right b4 crossing the street.

I lost 800+ coins from launch 1 which i was happy to like everyone else
I just started miner before work with old address at pool and when i arrived home the wallet was bare from launch 2

I then followed the instructions on page 1 and deleted the appdata folder (bad mistake guys do not do this Grin)

Anyway obviously these coins are gone, but wait, can i restore this folder from the recycle bin to another pc and a new wallet?

Because my new wallet now has new coins which i do not want to loose aswell

I feel bad for you - PM  me your NEW address and I'll send you 150 coins

I'm just a nice guy

Thanks mate, but ill be ok it was only 30 anyway
I am passionate about crypto currency and would like these type of issues to be able to be address professionally
What if i was a big miner and lost 100k coins - not good enough to just say they are gone to bad

wait...if the wallet is working and receiving coins fine do I need to worry about re-downloading and deleting everything?

OK, if i restore the appdata folder to another pc it will not make any difference because the coins never made it in the first place, which is why i followed the instructions and deleted the folder and installed the new wallet

What a surprise i got when i looked at the receive page and saw a new deposit address, i knew at this stage that i had stuffed up

This must be addressed by the alt coin wallet devs and block chains, we must implement a charge back type system where the coins are returned to the pool if address is incorrect - i could just open a ticket at dedicated and supply proof of transaction # and get my coins back, hopefully this industry will take advise like this onboard and move forward if we are to ever challenge and beat the banking industry

At the end of the day it was only 30 coins but for me it was two pc's mining for half a day

I don't like this low amount of university coins per block, no incentive to mine until it hits 1000 UVC per block. Also the market price of UVC will drop until we hit 1000 per block... and its not high enough even now to justify mining. I got 2.5 UVC just as a token for my coin collection tho.

at it's present value it's near the top of what you'll find to mine on coinwarz.com so I figure - why not?

and it will likely rise on price like BC did

Yes, you can restore that wallet.dat. You remove all the files in Appdata except the .conf and copy the wallet.dat file there. Then you close and reopen. The blockchain will download and you should be all set. This is only if that wallet address is valid. If its from the first version nothing can be done to save it.

Don't forget, you can also go to Bittrex and buy these cheap. Might be worth it to save time if you really want UVC that bad.

Anybody know how i can trace a UVC deposit

I forgot to change the deposit address at dedicatedpool and the coins were sent to old wallet address.

Stupid i know, but 12 hours mining now missing  Sad -

Pls help

Blockexplorer is coming asap. stay tuned.

How will the block explorer help recover my coins?
Do the coins get charged back to dedicated if the address is incorrect/does not exist?
Where are they now?
Good to know these things and how they work mining forward

You asked: "Anybody know how i can trace a UVC deposit"

I said: With a blockexplorer we are trying to build right now.....

If you deleted your old wallet, the coins are gone. Until someone in the future generates a new wallet with exactly that address....

how many coins to do think you missed out on?

OK, know i am pissed

Firstly it was my fault i agree but i have not encountered these problems with a coin before and have been mining for 5 months

The instructions on the 1st page read

Wallets:

Windows Wallet
(password: thankyouforyoursupport! if needed)

Please delete your old wallet as well as the UniversityCoin folder on your %appdata%(RUN - type in 'appdata')

In future could somebody please ADD - don't forget to change or delete your old address at your pool prior to deleting the %appdata% folder

My case was a little different because i was at work and the deposit went through before i realised that the new wallet had been released
I was under the impresion from the talk on the last forum post that the first release block chain would just be deleted, did not know that an entir new wallet would need to be released

We have all learned lessons from this launch good and bad

The instructions should have said: Remove all files from that folder except wallet.dat. Then copy the new .conf into that directory. Then close and reopen.

Ask the OP for reimbursement. It's a clear mistake on his part.

Are there any legit people backing this? All too often i see newbie members start coins that do nothing but waste people's time.

Just give it some time. Shortly devs will either prove they are legit or scammers, let them do some actions. I don't understand that you people dream about getting rich overnight. :-) Just look on the price chart of BlackCoin how low was the price during whole POW phase and where is it now. Anyway I think that again most of us who will wait to dump this coin at higher price will be fooled by some smart whale who "robs" us all within 2-3 days of coordinated P&D but at least this is the chance to create some volume and increase price. Just mine, hold and pray, that's what I can advice you. Mining a new coin is always big risk, don't expect miracles.

I didn't get rich overnight but I did get out at just the right time with BC - woohoo!

This coin needs to go to 10,000 satoshi
