I would like to add one thing on the sprint vs marathon debate. Many people are under the mistaken impression that marathons are long and slow events. They are long, but they are anything but slow. Marathon winners usually cover the 26.2 miles in under 2 1/2 hours. That's better than 6 minute miles. To me, a six minute mile is pretty fast.

I think that when we talk about marathon vs sprint, the big difference is not so much the speed (even though sprints are definitely run at a faster pace) but how far out the finish line is. We should not be running a sprint in the sense that we are only looking at the short term. In that sense, we want to be running a marathon. We want to run fast but be looking at the long term. In that way, we can have maximum growth AND maximum sustainability.

Just my two cents. Smiley

Very very nicely said.... The debates on here are very modest compared to other forums filled with morons

sorry VRC Team I didn't mean to hijack the thread I'll try to keep the focus of my conversation here on VRC lol

Don't worry about it. I'm enjoying the conversation.

The great thing about having a community around VeriCoin is that we can converse and debate as a community.

Oh I wasn't implying that crypto is Marxist I just meant the language in that post i.e. "Satoshis Gift",  the rant on capitalism, "Master Nakamoto" sounded vaguely like the Rhetoric that used to come out of Russia and that now comes out of N. Korea

not to mention isn't bitcoin like the epitome of a free market i.e capitalist payment system since it by design isn't regulated or controlled by a central authority?

Russia used the name of Marxism without actually implementing it.

I'm not really disagreeing with you. It's just a pet peeve of mine as an economics major. Karl Marx was a brilliant economist with visions of a utopian society. His ideas do have their flaws (as most do), but it would be interesting to see what would happen if somewhere in the world true Marxism was ever implemented.

I'm not against Capitalism. It is definitely the most efficient economic system, but it is a bit... heartless. That's why we have a hybrid system. We call it Capitalism, but there is a little socialism thrown in.
