Tomorrow I will show how to mine a Bitcoin block using Elastic  Wink People were asking for a real use case, so I thought this might be real enough.
A task for a long night, but I hope when I turn on the coffee machine tomorrow morning (or afternoon) I will be done with an example that everyone can run locally.

Please don't do that. We all (?) know that Elastic can't be used to mine BTC. It's not 2009. Even alts for Elastic will be a big problem. This will only show weaknesses of Elastic, nothing more. We should say firmly to everyone that Elastic can't be used to mine BTC. We are building false conviction here. Please @EK, focus on serious things.

As a first little showcase, why not. The real "killer-app" will be scientific uses cases.

How about some participation in BOINC projects like gridcoin? would that be a use case?
How about meterological data? Or is anyone into simulation?

More people would vote if there were a simpler way to do it.  Right now it takes too much effort for the average user to bother.

With Electrum is very simple. I do not know with other wallet. But voting is a very good test field for all those who are not familiar with signing messages with the private key, since in order to redeem the XELs it will be necessary to do the same operation.

Here we have a fantastic community, ask your doubts that there are people very eager to contribute. If you do not know it, the blog also has much more information than here.

Could you tell me how to sign a message using electrum ? Thank you !

Here you have some info about Electrum: https://talk.elasticexplorer.org/t/elasticracy-stress/198/11

Only 28% coins are active by now. The rest:

1. Didn't vote yet.
2. Don't know how to vote.
3. Don't want to involve, just waits for mainnet.
4. Already forgot about this project.
5. Lost thier private key.

About 50% at the moment.

Your math is quite wrong. 31,4M = 31,4% of 100M

I'm very active and didn't vote. Don't make assumptions that don't hold scientifically  Grin

I just don't find the logo important so I let others chose and be happy

We will be know more once mainnet will be alive. AFAIK @EK implemented console info about how many coins were redeemed by now.

I am thinking of the following equation. If XEL got enough computing power, to be able to mine btcs. Getting it to be more efficient than the current miners, reducing costs. We could be facing a new paradigm, in the mining of btc. Or I'm just daydreaming.

It would have to be to mine a coin that is not ASIC mineable yet - i.e. one that is still cost effective with CPUs or GPUs.  I believe the idea of EK is to prove the concept with BTC mining, it is symbolic.

I think you are. A usual CPU or GPU can never be as energy-efficient as an ASIC, so mining BTC with the Elastic-network won't make much sense as the energy your CPU/GPU is consuming will be more expensive then what the mining will yield.

Thank you for putting my feet on the ground Angry
