This is kind of a "why spend so much money to go to space while there are starving children?" question. Sorry for the crude comparison.

Well, to me it looks more like trying to decide what suit to wear at work when you still not 100% clear on how to do the job in the first place.

As for the golem logo, I only noticed it now because it was mentioned, and I'm still indifferent to it.
I thought the marketcap increase came about from the fact that it is actually being traded right now, in a time when cryptos are on the rise, rather than good logo design.

But I won't insist. It seems most people agree about the importance of the logo and I am the exception.

Honestly, I don't get the obsession with the logo.

Graphic art is not what attracts people to a project like elastic. I barely remember what the logos of most of the successful cryptos that I trade in even look like.

Couldn't that money better be used elsewhere for the benefit of the project? It's not like the dev team is swimming in funds, given the unfortunate situation with Lannister and the donations

It's not a question of either or. If funding for devs is being asked for it will be available. So far several offers for developer-funding went unmatched.

Edit: And i disagree with your opinion on Logo and such. Take Golem for example, they may be not superior when it comes to tech, but they for sure have a damn sleek appearance and overall design and it shows in marketcap imo. And after all 1BTC is a joke when it comes to funding, being it logo, devs or whatever.

logo is very important for sure.

My car is on the verge of breaking down ;-) Time to replace it with something new and maybe save a polar bear! If you like to support me, without any reward desired, there you go:

Reality is stranger than fiction
I want to try the redeem function in the testnet, using a late blockchain.info wallet with the new GUI (with a 12 word pass-phrase).

How can I sign the message?

The address is shown under "Settings->Addresses->Manage->Used Addresses->Show" but there is no sign message as an available option.

EDIT: i will thy this way https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15994971

Do we have to "sign" the message or do we just need to gather our Priv key?

The redeem function asks for signing

We have no central authority yes, but a coin-vote should bring some legitimacy to whatever proposal wins.

Sure it will. We did it before, we are all calling it Elastic and XEL Wink

Yet, I kinda like the idea to have a whole slew of logos to choose from. How many Linux penguins are out there?

Anyway, for one part, a good logo and corresponding corporate design is a way to show professionality.

But, XEL might be a little different in the regard, that there is no central entity to decide on a "party line" and I kinda like it that way.

With that in mind, we can still have the contest, still announce a winner and feel happy about it, but there is no real way to force everyone to use the chosen logo.

And while I think, that everyone is free to choose how they spend their money and whether or not they want to spend it on a logo rather than bug bounties, I think @bspus has at least a point in that regard.
True, EK and others have rejected payment, but things like bug bounties would draw in new developers, which XEL WILL need in the future.

And I agree on Golem having a crazy beautiful design. I was close to jumping in just because of that Wink

do we need a roadmap for XEL?

Why....  this has nothing to do with XEL.  Shill elsewhere.

have a open mind, that's a only way to success.  Smiley

the more decentralized computer, the world become better.

also project can always learn from each other, that's the spirit of open source.
I think you waited so long that you decided to come up with your own coin  Grin
It's really not about making the world a better place. We all know XEL is enough for a better world.

that's not my coin.. just a interesting one.

i am supporting XEL (check my signature.)

and i am also supporting byteball and Qtum.

And advertising and promoting other coins and projects in this thread sounds to you like a reasonable sensible thing to do?!  (It does not really matter what they do, or who is behind them. They have their own space for publications i am sure, no need to pollute this thread with irrelevancy as this).

you are right, will not post any other coins in the future. Smiley
