There should be first CALCULATED how much funds we need for the foundation. Second step is to determine if we want to collect this with XEL or BTC.

Can anybody make an estimate of how much USD is needed to make sure we can pay bounties, the devs, website and so on?

Then we will decide if we fund this with BTC or XEL. At this point I think its wiser to use BTC.

If we don't give XEL to @EK, the project will die just after the launch of mainnet...

FUD
but there is one truth behind it:
we clearly need a pool/fund/foundation for paying further dev after launch. We cant rely on EK, he already stated that he will step back

EK can do what he wants. But this is his baby, so I have a hard time imagining he will walk away completely. Keep in mind, he made that comment about stepping back in the midst of people pestering him about money, roadmaps, and status updates. That would irritate anybody. He is trying to work on the big picture, while people are only interested in the minutiae.

On to another point, who would be in charge of having this listed on any of the exchanges once the project goes live? Even though I have no plan on selling anytime soon.

Just stop. Read the thread carefully.

This has all been discussed before. Your position on this has been dismissed and nagging won't accomplish anything apart from making people hate you.

You do not understand the ideal of EK, you do not understand what is really no center of the project, EK pure and persistent adhere to the faith, the world is often such a person to create, and will attract the same concept of the crowd, and then endless

It is the rules of democracy.

1% is nothing for us and a lot for @EK. What's problem ?

Rules of democracy would also be if 90% decide to just take the XEL from the 10%. Democracy is nice in politics, but not when it comes to economics. You see your proposal is nothing less than force. It's kinda funny because everyone praises the new cryptoeconomics for it's freedom and freedom of state and then every now and then folks try to build exactly the same thing again.

And please stop that FUD that no development will happen if we won't do xyz. Seriously that reminds me 1:1 on real world politics. "If we don't do X then Y will happen!"

Be assured EK and all other contributors will have all the funds they need.

Won't happen.

why not add the median of all donations as EK's own donation into the genesis block.

Plain and simple

regards

EK has stated time and time again that he wants no monetary compensation for his work with Elastic. This is charity work for him. He does not want to accept any amount of XEL at mainnet launch as his personal reward for bringing this idea to fruition. I'd personally like to give a 3% cut of my XEL to him but I don't think that's going to happen.

Checked the list and it looks ok to me (at least with my address and xel amount)

Regarding donating to current and future devs, pr and other, just donate the amount you wish to the entity/person you choose. A trusted foundation address will be a good idea (for both xel and btc donations) so people can send donations as they see fit.
The hard work of the people involved will not go unattended and i have no doubt will be highly compensated. Let us forsake any notions of forced donation and maintain and keep mutual respect for personal freedom between any and all investors and community members.

I'm still not sure where the dontation talk comes from.  I know I'm not looking for anything for the work I've done and I believe EK has continued to say he is not looking for anything.

I think the task at hand is to figure out as a community how you can fund future devs (I may or may not take part, but that is future coding...not what's already been done), marketing / pr programs, etc.

And I personally would be strongly against requiring participation...let people choose whether or not to participate.

Why not issue a token on top of the XEL mainnet, allocate it as a development reserve and distribute that token through a proof-of-participation method:

Whoever contributes valuable work, receives some of that token in exchange.

DivvyDAO has developed this kind of token mining and applies it.

EK does not want to be a leader, but it is indeed the undisputed spiritual pillar that has gone beyond the thinking of ordinary investors and gives us a product that can change the world is his greatest achievement, not how much share it is, Donation of individual wishes is the mainstream

can we expect 160.000 XEL per invested BTC at your ico list?

edit: I can answer this question now: yes. you must muliply the number out of the formula by 20 (cap raised from 5 to 20 million coins )

my donations is in the list!
