While normal transactions take seconds to create, shielded transactions using zk-SNARKs take one to two minutes. That's why engineers have been exploring ways to cut down the time needed to securely generate shielded transactions.

Meet 'Jubjub'
Called Jubjub, the new type of elliptic curve uses math to slash the time needed to create a transaction.
With the technology, Bowe explains in the announcement blog post, the researchers are claiming "record-breaking performance." According to the post, generating zk-SNARKs transactions will now be roughly five times faster while requiring 98 times less computer memory.

One advantage of the tech is that it makes possible zcash transactions on a smartphone, which was infeasible before.

Next year will be very interesting, no doubt!

Agreed, we certainly want to stay in sync with upstream developments in ZEC tech. Those guys are awesome and have some of the best researchers in the world.

I know there are great instructions for setting up secure nodes but would be great if we could have same for setup of secure nodes using servers from home on our own network, obviously this requires a fix IP but these are easy to get for home users now,I have 3 dual Xeon that I'm looking to use and any info would be much appreciated,I have read others asking about this also.

Team have decided to pause signature and avatar campaign and this decisions will be applied when all payments are done, on the 13th september.
Reasons - > Funds are currently redirected to wallet and messaging improvements, as well as development of secure nodes. Those features are some of our differentiators and we need to get them into production as quickly as possible.

Supporters can wear signature and avatar if they want.

I really like this move. Secure Nodes are one of the things that make Zencash go from a really good anonymous coin, to the best anonymous coin (as far as I’m concerned).

Hopefully this will help the Secure Nodes launch sooner rather than later.

I'm definitely looking into running a secure node or two but I was wondering are there risks from attack associated with running a secure node? If so what are they and what protections are in place to mitigate against them? Is that why you're recommending hiring a VPS so our home networks are secure?

Thanks

Thanks to the very good manuals on
https://blockoperations.com/build-zencash-secure-node-part-2-build-zen-node/
https://blockoperations.com/build-zencash-secure-node-part-1-prepare-vps/
I installed the Zen Node.  I still have to read up what I exactly did, but it was fun configuring it (took me around 4-6 hrs spread across 2 days,).
Currently I run one  VPS node on a 512MB /20GB  VPS  (the 5$ one).

It was not very clear to me if this is enough for actually running the zen node
Also what would be the best way to run multiple VPS's. Different server locations? or Different providers.

Also would like to know if running (multiple nodes ) from a SFF  PC (like Asrock Deskmini, NUC)  or raspberry would be possible.

It was fun doing/learning something new.

Ideally, you'd want to run nodes from different providers.  This will have two effects, you will strengthen the node network with this diversification, and if your VPS provider has issues, then your other nodes will still be up.  If you host multiple nodes on your own computer/network, the same thing applies.  If your system crashes, then your multiple nodes will be down.

To those who haven’t done so already, please make a coin request to Poloniex.
Yes, I know about their issues, but they are striving to improve things, and they are a major exchange.

Coin request page: https://poloniex.com/coinRequest

Information you can use to fill out the form: https://forum.zensystem.io/t/help-zencash-get-listed-on-poloniex/289

Hi guys! What softawre is needed to mine this coin? Does a separate miner exist or it's only through the wallets?

https://youtu.be/MMxNATc1JY0

I try to go over everything about mining zencash / building a rig in this video, but a simple explanatin is ewbf zec miner -> to a zen wallet and pool
