Now for some dumb questions.

What is the difference between making a "backup" of my Swing wallet and Exporting my private keys? Do I need to do both to backup my wallet? I would assume I should store these on a USB in a safe place.

On CoinMarketCap, the Announcements link is still pointing to the old bitcointalk thread. Someone should let a dev know.

ZEN seems to be an interesting and independent project, a complete wallet, especially on social media marketing, I'm very curious about it,

For those who missed it! Block 139,200 on Friday July 21th 14:00 EDT we had FORK!

What now?

Before any action backup wallet, keys and wallet.dat!

1. Backup old wallet, write down your private keys. copy wallet.dat on safe location
2. Delete or even better rename Zen folder - > /appdata/roaming into "ZEN2"
3. Delete old wallet
4. Download and run new wallet, wait for syncronization it will be slow in the beggining.
5. Close wallet after is synchronized and paste old Wallet.data in /appdata/roaming/Zen
6. Run wallet again and ZEN's will show up..

Spent a good 30 minutes attempting to connect to other nodes for the required resync and could only get 1.

Please add an optional line, to paste the original and now backed up peers.dat file to the new ZEN folder. Instantly got 7 connections and it sped along nicely.

The previous thread lock seems questionable but alas this is the "host" so, their house.

GL with this thread lol!

Not that I am anywhere near qualified enough to code such a thing... but wouldn't the node requirements and the entire network benefit from a more flexible set of parameters that helped match coin totals and actual process power to those coin allocations?

Follow me here... all the 42 coin node requirement does is allow for a SPAM net of nodes with the MOST MINIMAL resources available to hook in and completely flood it with barely on par performance. I do not know the entire ins and outs of the node proposal... but it would seem to me if it is any nodes chance at any time to calc and submit encrypted transactions, then mostly the high I/O nodes will win out every time, so very quickly all your SPAM net nodes can't profit and die. Now that leaves more expensive hardware based nodes, which likely also means they are being run by those with means to supply enough ZEN to create their own army of high I/O nodes. That creates an environment where your everyday community member can't compete and you end up with a small set of nodes to prop up your growing network. Even if you kept a running order of which node gets to calc the next set of encrypted transactions... that is additional P2P overhead required to do so and still allows a small subset to own node income. It just seems counterproductive to the desired end goal.

Maybe I have no fucking clue what I am saying, but I had an idea to share and if it has merit, please run with it.

Nodes should have SEVERAL coin value thresholds. These thresholds should also be pinned to some sort of benchmark for the encryption of transactions by nodes which will score that nodes I/O throughput . Set ranges for the benchmark scores and allow a HIGHER coin amount on those higher tiered I/O nodes to give them higher priority in the processing order, but only give them the priority of the actual coin amount held. Couple that with a check to see what that node last did over 24 hours or X blocks before allowing it to do so again.

This would add a POS weight type design to this, giving all nodes equal chance I believe... tracking only their last known weight or w/e the measurement would be.

Example:

NODE 1 has say, 500 points on the benchmark which only allows it to participate at level 1, 42 coins minimum and no further coins will give it weight.
NODE 2 has say, 1000 points on the benchmark which allows it to participate at level 2, 42 coins minimum and 84 coins max and it has twice the weight potential but no further weight for more coins.
NODE 3 has say, 10000 points which allows it to participate at level 5, 42 coins minimum and 210 coins maximum allowing it to have five times a level 1 nodes weight potential.

In my mind this performs two very important things:

1. Less BS tiny nodes with par performance fighting and causing a huge, possibly laggy network of tracked nodes to accomplish the network goals.
2. Invites REAL hardware backed players to build quality nodes instead of quantity, fostering a positive environment that offers those who want to invest, a safe and scalable way to do so within a node.

While I know more nodes sounds better... that was for old coin algo design. I do not see a flood of cheap nodes benefiting this project in the long run. So give some bigger hardware players room to scale while guaranteeing the smaller players can still earn.

It is a delicate balance so I will not pretend any of what you are doing is easy. The above is just one of those AHA moments I thought worth sharing.

Anyone using the windows swing wallet? Is is safe to pull my Zen off Bittrex and use it my primary wallet for Zen?

Thanks!
I'm using Swing wallet for both way transactions, and everything working so far. Be sure that you are on correct fork check you have latest version of wallet. Always backup your wallet.dat before any change and you will be ok!

You can try probe coins, or small amount 0.01 for example, then you can be sure 100%

Thanks! My wallet is syncing now. I will send a token amount to give it a test. It is nice to Zen price holding up so well with alts all RED. There must be some demand Wink

Anyone seeing very lengthy block times. Been watching the pool and the explorer and 5-6 total blocks mined in 1 hour. Starting block 142907 the times just increased by a large time. 14 and 21 minutes between blocks.

It's rng , difficulty almost doubled since some blocks ago

Is the team competent to run this project?
You probably don't know anything about the team when you are asking such questions before you did an investigation on this. I surely would not lose my time with incompetent persons, i can only add, this team follows community ideas an they are open for all.

i believe that it will trend upward in a short time. but the bountys for signature campaigns should be increased and more people should participate.  Grin
It must go up, it will follow BTC if nothing else. We have touched floor at 140k, major uprise happen immediately after nodes setup. People waiting to see what will happen, but forgetting very valuebly fact - buy when it is low!
One of the most undervalued coins now, can't wait to see its success in long term.
Yes it is but this won't be for a long, Team prepares good things, and community can involve in the future plans which is most important.
Is your old thread locked?
And you do not hold a bounty campaign, I do not really understand the decision of the moderator
This is long story, in short this is new thread. Bitcointalk forum is our host so we must obey  rules, it is simple.
