My theory is that he saw something done better in an altcoin than in bitcoin and pointed it out, then WHAM! Banhammer.

MY RED TRUST LEFT BY SCUMBAGS - READ MY SIG
He's been banned many times before. Let's hope he returns. He was the laymans best chance here at even remotely understanding what they were actually investing in or mining. You can't really ban him he will return when he wants to.

You may have not liked how he put his points across, but regardless of what he thinks ...many listened when he spoke and took time to try understand what he wrote. Let's face it he put more effort into this discussion board than anyone else ever.

He is a strange guy. I never encountered anyone so smart who seemingly had no idea how to deal with other people. He was easily offended/upset and also seemed to be in need of an outlet for his personal problems. I have no idea why he would relate some of the things he did on a board like this. However, it kind of made you like him more for being so vulnerable and human as well as so smart. It was often like he needed to prove himself and needed the respect of other super smart people. The criticisms and lack of recognition for his insights from the crypto/coding/math elites seemed to be almost crushing for him and he lashed out.

He was like a super brain that had only encountered humans a couple of hours before finding this board. It was also always so strange that someone like this could be down to his last few BTC in life and almost desperate for cash when average minds that joined after he did had so many. I was fascinated that life could reduce someone this smart to having so little left in terms of financial worth. It must be almost evil to have some much raw talent and yet be held back so much through circumstances beyond your control and choices you made.

I mean the guy was 50 right? I mean I actually believed his physical accomplishments too after looking at his pics. I mean he seemingly had it all and yet even with his great athletic physicality  (baring illness) and his obviously very powerful mind he had less ( in terms of financial security and maybe even happyness) than most of us average joe bloggs. It was weird to me reading his open comments about his life and made you realise that even those given so much naturally do not always do better than those with far less genetically.

The super smart feared (admired in secret ) him because he could find their weaknesses/mistakes where most here could not and was not afraid to start posting about them immediately on this board. The average admired him (because that's what you do when someone is way way smarter and no longer competition) but because he wanted validation from his true peers that meant little to him.

He was very unpredictable.

He reminded me of BCX (the first person on here I used to like reading when i found this board) although he is not as human and open as anonymint.  Both though can turn on you in an instant and throw down serious hate and venom. Or the next moment be totally nice and friendly. You wouldn't dare trust either. Not because they are deliberately devious but they are just so unpredictable in their moods and would think nothing i'm sure of destroying you utterly over a small difference of opinion.

I don't accept he is gone for good. I liked him. He likes it here and will return after a time. If not it will be far more boring here again.

Of course this is just my take on him each of you will have your own. That's the great thing about big characters they leave us with plenty to talk about. If you don't agree he was a big character then that's you opinion but you're wrong.

If he is HONCHO then that's fine with me. Although to me he does not write as nicely as anonymint. There is not a huge amount in it and it could be intentional but anonymint just seemed to polish his posts a little more.

This forum deteriorates by the day. Eth shills, Monero shills, random stupid kids.

At least Anynomint showed some critical thinking, even though his replies were sometimes over-explanatory and far fetched.

He has a fresh mind, I will miss him.

I agree. Damn this sucks. Why can't smooth, for instance, leave? That would actually make the forum better. Less hatred and constant attacking.

SHELBY don't go. We're lost here without some constructive thinking.

Anonymint has called Smooth a friend one day and idiot the next day (or something along those lines), so it's more like a 50/50 split between pro and negative bias for Monero.  Why does every thread have a Monero conspiracy in it?  All the noobs think Smooth controls the altcoin markets HAHA.

Thats called throwing the occasional red herring in to throw people off the scent.

Tptb and monero in general are bent as a 9 bob note

So smooth paid tptb 2.5 btc and now they are best buds and monero only has "some issues".

They might be buddies, but that does not mean
Anonymint has ever ceased pointing out problems with Monero.
For example he was quite merciless on the issue of blocksize adjustment.

Cool, let's move on there's clearly nothing dodgy going on here.

Yes let's, except for those who are suffering from
shortage of FUD

He'll be back.  He cant stay away the sad old twat

He's currently logged in with the sockpuppet1 account and reading here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/sockpuppet1-837451

I personally hope he won't go. I really like his posts, basically everything about it. It's definitely hot material to read. He's a refreshing oasis in a sea of stupidity!

Not really he just gets paid to bash everyhing that isnt monero.  Pretty pathetic really.

TPTB_need_war pointed out a series of Monero's issues many times or do I hallucinate?

Please don't forget that he was allegedly bribed by smooth with 2.5 BTC earlier. That is pretty sad.

No, during the BCX incident, Anonymint/TPTB_need_war thought he found BCX's planned exploit and was supposed to get a bounty for that--that that turned out be something else, so smooth paid it out of his own pocket because he though it was the right thing to do.

If we can create spellcheck, can we create readcheck?
Doesn't come unexpected to be honest but still quite a SHOCKER

I like smooth. He has been very fair with me and helped me also. He even paid/donated  a few BTC one time to me.

´smooth´ is the anonymous front face and imperialist of the controversial Monero Club.

´AnonyMint/TPTB_need_war´ is an independent Cryptopioneer who is on the forefront of crypto auditing.

Evidently, smooth has deliberately bribed AnonyMint/TPTB_need_war in order to silence him on Monero's severe flaws.

LOL no. We offered him a bounty for identifying weaknesses in Monero in 2014*, which I paid him and he has written about on the forum many times since. Nothing has been kept secret.

Nice FUD though.

* This was in connection with the alleged coin-stealing vulnerability in the crypto BCX claimed to have, and which TPTB claimed to have found, but which turned out to be nonexistant FUD. What TPTB found had nothing to do with BCX but was still a valid contribution so I paid him anyway.

Yes smooth paid me out of his own pocket. I thought I had an agreement with Monero but I guess there isn't really any official "Monero" so it wasn't quite clear who would judge if I deserved any bounty. It was a mess.

And smooth out of the kindness of his own heart, paid me afair 2.5 BTC.

The BCX incident is difficult to explain. I thought I was helping and as smooth says I did find one insight, but in another way I unwittingly perhaps helped BCX short Monero or whatever he did. I am not really even clear what happened.

Any way smooth never bribed me. Smooth knows he doesn't own me. Lol. I flip him middle finger in PMs sometimes (rarely and almost always about the community he is managing). Seriously though, smooth is an ethical person.

Your issue with smooth is not his ethics. The issue is smooth believes in community very much. I just want to point out to smooth that a community of Linux developers is not the same animal as a community of gamblers who are not communing about coding.

Smooth and I would be happy campers in a forum of like-minded programmers talking tech shop.

My guess is Smooth seems to believe in enforcing ethics and creating a community for Monero. I think this is where the boundaries get blurred. It is not that smooth is incorrect in his logic. But there are different perspectives and feelings in play. And different vested interests and all valid from their own right. I think perhaps we just need to admit the altcoin arena is a Wild West that doesnt want a Sheriff.

Any way, he is free to do it his way. Smooth has very little influence over me. He has influence over me in terms of explaining realities in the altcoin scene that I wasn't focused on. But I also work through the logic on my own and eventually perhaps come to a different perspective over time.

Any explanation why he's been banned, and why is it
any different this time?

I want to know too, why ban the guy

It doesn t make any sense.  He is one of the best assets to this forums.

I think it s because he might have attacked Theymos- but I don t have any info on that.

I give him 48 hours before he starts posting again.

I fear this as well, but I hope this time he won't. My eyes are bleeding from all his vaporware advertising from the past year in every thread he took part in. It will never happen.

No disrespect meant, but I don't know who this guy is.  Can someone drop that knowledge briefly?   Also where did he originally post this?

And he's not the first one to quit like this and he makes a few good points and I don't blame him for leaving.

If you click the quoted post it goes to his netcash/vibes thread where he probably originally posted it, but it got deleted by forum mods.

As far is who he is, a smart but troubled guy who has been posting here prolifically for the past 3 years or so. You can find his past posts under AnonyMint, TPTB_need_war, and a few others.
