there lots of this. do they have an agenda? or are they simply just writing the articles that attract the most readers

notice how , also, they spread those false info when bitcoin is affected by something (xt malleability attack, recent bug on the client, for upnp etc...) they spread to info at the right time, to increase the bad image about bitcoin

but besides this, the price is there increasing, i find it strange some time

Today I've seen an article on the economic section of the newspaper which makes be very angry.
Here's the outline of the article translated to English (I've thrown away the newspaper of anger, however I remembered what it spread):
Quote
I (writer) have met a friend who played wth bitcoin (1), and he said that a bitcoin conference held in Philippines have invited a significant people (2) for free.
Then I (writer) think that he is willing to go for free because he have a lot of bitcoin, which are got from satoshi (3).
I (writer) also think that bitcoin will over just for switching off the power supply (4), and make them worthless.
(1) Bitcoin isn't a thing to 'play' with! He is trying to leave a bad impression to the public!
(2) I've forgot who he is, nor know who he is, he is described significant in the article.
(3) Whaaaat satoshi is selling/giving away his bitcoins?! The writer is calling satoshi as a bad guy!
(4) This is a false information - bitcoin will not gone just for switching off the power. Other nodes are running still fine.

What do you think?

Articles like that are totally crap we all know this. But Bitcoin is still something very complex and there is media out there who is just publishing nonsense about everything because they don't give a sh**.
I woulnd't care too much about it.For how long had the newspapers and magazines written idiotic stuff about the internet?!
Give it a few more years and Bitcoin and crypto currencies will be taken serious by the mainstream.

Move On !!!!!!
Thankfully it's becoming a rarer occurrence. As more information disseminates the people who write shite like that will look increasingly stupid.

It is really. I must agree with you. I remember when I first got into Bitcoin almost two years ago that every article in any press was of this nature.

Today, there are however articles and analysis that are recognizing Bitcoin for its innovation among the other things and are even giving Bitcoin a chance to become and important player in the future.

I guess that everything changes with the time and when they are seeing that we are still here and existing!

In fact I found this article on a politically neutral newspaper (90% of the local newspaper have political background, and that newspaper is a rare one which is quite neutral).

Also I don't think I've translated anything wrong. The article said satoshi or someone else is the 'dealer' of the bitcoin market, that is, they got the most advantage from trading of bitcoins (but the answer is: definitely no!).

I've also seen someone said it is extracted from a blog which no one watchs. Yes, I personally won't watch those comments (on stocks), however the word 'bitcoin' in the title attracts me to watch, and just see it is another piece of false information...

well 'satoshi or someone else is the 'dealer' of the bitcoin market' is not what you first wrote. which means you didnt directly quote and as such words and meaning were lost between the write and you comments.

im not having a go at you, im just using your words as a example that things do get lost in translation or just forgotten with each person that it passes.. so as i said the writer may have forgot a few details from what his friend told him, and you forgot a few details of the exact wording the writer wrote.

.. its like the bible.. many many rewrites over 20 centuries.. do you really think that people living in the middle east were actually called mary and joseph.. or possibly Miryam and Yosef

so unless an article is an internationally renowned financial paper, wrote by financial experts that have personal experience and write a full detailed and researched article... then there is no need to worry about the article. as it holds about as much weight as a blog

I think you should make better choices in choosing your daily newspaper.

Or you can just email the newspaper in question and point out that this article was written by incompetent person without doing even a basic research.*

* that's assuming you've provided accurate translation.
Unfortunately I had the subscription of the newspaper until February 2016 Sad And I don't see an email to the editor either.

Maybe the general public have been scared by the great decline of the price since late 2013 (from $1000+ to ~$250 as of now). They only wanted to invest in something that is risk-free and have high return.
The truth always wins. It's enough to show the facts and people will eventually get what's right. Sites like that one will never win.
Off-topic post, it is an article from newspaper not from site!
In the USA the 'big media' today is small. Just don't read and don't buy their papers and let them starve or improve
I'm not in USA, though.

Don't trust be big media. They are to spread misinformation and even desinformation, and are less and less preparated day by day because they sell less everyday because of internet and alternative media and because their quality is lower day by day.

Can a reader give feedback and throw out all the baseless accusations? There's no point replying to the writer but instead i think it's best if you collect a bunch of signature and submit to the editor. Tell him how disgusted you are and if it were for me, i would never buy that kind of nespaper anymore.

it is not the first time this happened and is not going to be the last one either. it has always been like this, media is always showing the dark side of everything they are afraid of or does not have their best interest in.
if you want to reply to every one of them it is going to take all day every day fighting them one by one.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. If you believe in that, you tend to dismiss rubbish like that and troll post much easier. We see ignorant articles like that everywhere and just laugh at it, because we

know the truth. Some people still make a effort and write to the newspapers to dismiss it or comment on articles when they provide a option for that. Just take it on the chin or if you are in a fighting mood... take

them on and expose them with the facts. One thing about these dumbass people... They expose themselves. Bullshit always smell.  Roll Eyes

What do you think?

1. i have invested in penny shares, bluechip shares, gold, and bitcoin.. and when you can emotionally separate yourself from an investment, to save your sanity if the price drops. then you do indeed treat investments as a game. otherwise you'll go potty
2. i dont think the writer is anyone important so it won't really impact peoples opinion.
3. i think the comment about satoshi was a mis translation, where what he wrote in his native language may have said 'bitcoin, invented by satoshi'..
4. i think that switch off the power, may be another mis-translation. maybe it meant losing power (momentum, desire, demand)

i think this is more of a case where the bitcoin owner had a 5 minute conversation with the writer. so some aspects were missing, then the writer wrote an article in his own words based on his interpretation. and then when translated to english, the meaning of the words changed again..

inshort, not even worth thinking about twice or worrying about

to me i think that ththe quote you wrote was not really a big negative thing about bitcoin.. seems more like a naive opinion grabbed from a blog no one reads

it's always the same story

they want to buy cheap, thus scaring people and force a dump-chain form weak hands, should be a good strategy in their dirty mind

they really know nothing and simply hate revolutionary thing like bitcoin, they fear change, many are like that

they work for the government/bank etc..., and we know Gov hate decentralization

Sounds like someone who doesn't know a thing about Bitcoin.

Just like every Bitcoin hater ever.

The more you learn about the technology, the less you can criticize  it because you see that, even if nothing is perfect (and nothing can be perfect) it is simply the best form of money we've ever seen. That's why I don't waste my time with uninformed haters. Let them rot.
