Just to explain how big news this integration is, Moneygram has 200 000 agent locations worldwide, Western Union has 520 000, ZipZap has 700 000, ZipZap is already using Moneygram network in the U.S. + it uses other networks, so in total ZipZap has 700 000 locations worldwide.
Yet the price is in decline  Sad Huh
People think that they could make some money by pumping and dumping, few of them probably will, but other I don't think so Cheesy Best trading rule is don't fight the tide and listen the news, not rumors, but news.
Bought some more at 12K BTC and sold at 10K  Wink
I was hoping it would go around 5K though..

... The ripple currency was never meant to have any value.
XRP uses:
  • Prevent transaction spam
To protect the network from excess transactions, transaction fees are raised when the network is under load.
  • Prevent ledger spam
To keep processing fast, the ledger size must be limited. XRP reserves are required to occupy space in the ledger.
  • A natural bridging currency
XRP has low friction, can not be debased, and has no counter party risk. Market makers may use XRP to make a profit providing inter-gateway liquidity at a spread.

Since I have used ZipZap\Moneygram, let me added my take on this news.

Last year I went to BitInstant.com and got a ZipZap deposit number.  When to my local Walgreens (pick you location nearest) to transfer the money.  Went to the RED phone in Photo area and picked it up; it goes instantly to Moneygram operator who verified my name/info and destination.  Then, I went to the checkout counter where they have a monegram\zipzap screen view of transactions pending at their location.  I paid my order.  "Eventually" got my coins from bitinstant.  Note to all, you have to be legit on this, they verify ID etc.  There is a KYC paper trail, which I am perfectly fine with.

The reverse will be the same.  Send to Walgreens with ZipZap transaction ID.  Verify on red phone.  Pickup cash at location.  Obviously, withdrawal amounts are limited.

Now, how does this apply to this (rumored) Ripple news.  It would only mean that Ripple is competing with BitInstant now.  That is it.  It has ZERO bearing on the price of XRPs.  The ripple currency was never meant to have any value.  In fact, they are only used to execute transactions in Ripple network.  Also, 1 ripple....just one ripple...is enough for 10000 transactions.  So, you only will ever need a few for your whole life.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Ripple XRP has many purposes inside Ripple network. If we assume that Ripple network is going to be successful, then XRP is more valuable then any IOU. XRP is the only currency that you can send without fee, you don't have to set trust in order to send/receive XRP and lastly it could be exchanged for any IOU.

So if I'm right ZipZap will probably enable people to purchase XRP online and then complete the transaction with cash at for example, a local CVS store. Thus giving quick entry into the Bitcoin market for many people. So someone might purchase XRP and then trade them for Bitcoin using the Ripple network.

Yes, I guess that ZipZap will become a Ripple Gateway, but we must wait to see what currency could be ordered, I guess xrp, usd and btc.

ZipZap doesn't provide customers, it provides cash-in locations. For example, you don't ask how many users have used particular ATM machine, you ask for it's location to be near you.

Let me rephrase it.... how many users ?? how many transactions ...? etc....  Roll Eyes

edit:My point is that zipzapinc may be a dying start-up with aggreements with 700k locations but not customers and trying to find a new way to make business or find some funds with xrp/ripple.

Sorry, I can't help you with that, we think completely different.

so nobody seems to know, then? how big is zipzap, what markets they serve that meaningfully add to adoption of the protocol? when is this supposed to happen, anyway? how are you sure that Ripple will be offered in 700k locations? not sure about that.

Read the OP

I read it. 700k location doesn't mean anything in itself.

How many actual customer ? Annual turn-over ?

I don't know, Google it

I tried to find those information already and didn't found anything. Reading your thread I thought you could provide meaningful information but actually it's just hype. thanks anyway.

Bitinstant site is shut down. Indont know of anysite that takes zipzap, especially for btc.

I think it will be exclusive partnership between Ripple and ZipZap, because ZipZap CEO is also a member of Ripple Labs Advisory Board. By providing 700 000 cash-in locations Ripple is on the right track.
