well, logged into another miner and got the connection closed by foreign host...
Why is it not mining now??

Or Does that mean it is another issue totally??

the one you got foreign host closed is not mining? it should be as you were able to get to port 3334 of the mining application.

Ok... just entered this...

Would I get this : connection closed by foreign host -- just below the oink??

not getting that... I get : telnet: can't connect to remote host (209.141.38.251): Connection timed out
root@antminer4~# oink
-ash: oink: not found

Well connection timed out is saying the miner you tried this on can not get to eligious.

So as a previous person said, this seems like a router issue, like your router is either losing where these packets need to come back too or denying more connections out.

try  this

telnet 209.141.38.251 3334
hit enter
then type oink hit enter

u should get a connection closed by foreign host
that will show u can get to eligious.

Well..I have flashed three of the miners back to 3.8.5 and nada..................................

will they mine to other pools??

What router do you have, older cable or sat ones have limitations set on the number devices?
What is the response from the Nslookup diagnostic, some routers will allow ICMP protocol, ping and traceroute regardless of the number of device limitation but not TCP?

Just to verify.... If I flash back to older firmware I won't brick this thing right? I have a January model that's working great with this older 3.8.5... So, shouldn't but.........

Should not be a problem!

yeah but I was just making sure your IP info was setup correctly and the pings show it is.

but Eligius ip would be
stratum.mining.eligius.st
209.141.38.251

beyond that is a very odd thing since u already own some and have them mining.

I mined on ELgius with a newer S1 its cgminer says 3.8.5

root@antMiner:/usr/bin# cgminer -V
cgminer 3.8.5

dumb question but....
did you reboot them?

Try using IP's for the pool names?

ssh into them and see if you can ping google.com
user: root
pw: root

root@antMiner:~# ping google.com
