I have (4) S1's coming in shortly. I currently have a 1300W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 and was planning to use this to power (3) S1's. Bad idea?

I will need to purchase another PSU to power the 4th one, so perhaps I'll buy one capable of powering 2 units. That way I'll have 2 off each PSU. I'm hoping to overclock them a bit to about 375 mhz. Any PSU recommendations?

My antminer OC to 200GH is pulling 445W at the wall on a seasonic 680W Cold Rated power supply

I did the killowatt thing last week with a new S1, trying out a 93% efficient power supply and wanted to see what the wall draw was.

At 180GH/s it was 352W.  Overclocked to 190GH/s it rose to 376W.  Didn't bother going higher since previous tests seem to show that HW errors go up by about a factor of 10.

The power supply, BTW, is a  KingWin LZP-550.  Actually a 650W, I believe, but sold as a 550 for the better efficiencies.  Sweet spot is ~440W, if I recall correctly, so I'm probably only getting 90% efficiency at best.

I did some measuring a while ago, which I assume is still valid.

About fifteen minutes of steady-state mining at stock clock, I read about 27.3A at 11.73V delivered to the Ant terminals. That's 320W per Ant.
AntMiner overclocked to 400MHz, increased the current output 13.8%, which puts it at 31A or 365W

That's actual DC consumption, not power draw at the wall.

Are you on 220V or 120V like here in the US?

240V 50Hz

Same here ... in the UK on 240v and running 4 Ants overclocked at 375Mhz, separate Corsair 750CXM PSU on each one and they pull 420 Watts individually. I did run at 400Mhz for a while and each one pulled 460 Watts, but the HW errors were not good.

Yes, I tried 400Mhz but too many HW errors. I put it down to the heat, it's pretty difficult to cool things here in summer when the ambient temp rises, but since you got the same result in winter in the UK maybe it's not the heat.

I have 4 S1's on one wall socket pulling 1680 Watts, overclocked to 375MHz. Each S1 has its own Corsair 750CXM PSU. So I guess that equates to 420 Watts per S1. I'm reading with a Bauhn power meter at the wall. Located in Australia if that makes any difference.

I don't know the actual wattage (don't have a kill-o-watt), but I can tell you that I've been running two ants off a corsair HX1050 for 2 months and it works fine. I recently (2 days ago) got more ants and ordered the corsair CX500 power supplies-one for each of them (~$50/each on amazon). They have been hashing at 192GH (375 mhz overclock) for 2 days without a problem, all with an asic status of oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo

2x S1 OC'ed -> ~720-800W @ the wall. I have a Corsair RM1000 Gold, and a couple EVGA 1000 Gold/Platinum for other pairs. This will pull between 8-8.5 Amps. I learned this the hard way by trying to connect them into 15A surge protector/power strips with a built in 15A breaker. Cannot connect 2 1000W PSUs here without them switching off after 5 minutes. Kill-O-Watt readings started showing spikes of over 16A with 4 connected on one strip.

answered my question on the corsair RMS1000 Gold .. thanks .

i still need to buy more psu's .. just not right now .

i will have an entire fleet of corsairs here soon ..

I'd be more worried about the Amperage these things pull when OC'ed, and the fluctuation it can exhibit because I have many Ants and running 10+ is a pain without access to commercial power.

1x S1 OC'ed -> ~360-400W @ the wall. I use a Seasonic 650W Platinum PSU for a few. Roughly pulling ~4 Amps.

3x S1 OC'ed -> ~1180-1220W @ the wall. Can be done, but not suggested, even though it seems cheaper because its one PSU, but one of my PCI-E cables melted at the PSU end (was the 1st edition Ant where you had to splice your own PCI-E extension cables in) and forced me to get two replacements and makes even my 1200W NZXT Gold PSU and my 1250W Seasonic Gold PSU work hard. This method pulled a solid 12 Amps with spikes up to almost 13 Amps at times.

4x S1 OC'ed or not -> Don't even waste your time, you will more than likely kill your very expensive and hard to replace PSU.

These were all taken with Kill-O-Watt readings measured at the wall. I wish I knew these things ahead of time. Play it safe too, you don't know how shitty your buildings interior wiring is if its more than 30 years old.

These Ants also double as space heaters. I have 5 in my living room and it hit 50F today in NY and I have all my windows open and its still a little warm inside. I don't know how I could have run more than 3 had it not been a really cold winter.

I'm running multiple overclocked AntMiner S1s and I put two per 1000-watt 80PLUS Platinum PSU, clocking in at around 760-780 watts at the wall at 120 volts.  So somewhere around 380 watts per unit overclocked.

How many GH?

power supply efficiency makes big difference ..

person on other thread posted screenshot of two ants not overclocked pulling 800 watts from an 80% efficient psu ..

i want to test two oc'ed ants on a 1000-watt corsair rms gold which is reported 92% efficient ..

otherwise i must buy another corsair 1200i platinum ..

Oops I just noticed that my OP is wrong. I have an AX860, and I'm looking into getting the AX1200 to power all three.

Thanks again for all the help.

Returning the AX860 and upgrading to the AX1200 would be about $170 upgrade. I could just buy another AX760 or AX860 for that price and eventually be usable in my PC. I think the AX1200 is huge.

All of my stock ants pull between 360-380w each from the wall (80+ Plat vs 80+ gold, HX1050 and EVGA G2 1300w)

HX1050 is Silver.
