I still have no luck. I just can't find it on the list of DHCP clients while its connected directly to my router. Another issue is that the red and green lights next to the Ethernet port are both just staying on and when i hold the reset button the lights don't do anything. I just can't connect/find the ip to even try connecting to. I have tried restarting my router and modem but i could always give anything i said i've already done another try.
If anybody has any resolution or could maybe help me troubleshoot this issue i'd really appreciate it. Feel free to ask any questions if i explained something terribly or didn't make any sense.
Do you know what IP you set it to? If so you can set a static on PC on IPV4 (turn off IPV6), and you can plug it directly into computer and log into it. But you need to know network settings to do this easily.
There is a reset button. But if you have one firmware I believe it did not work (been a while). But if you have one without that firmware a reset should set it to factory.
That's the thing. I have used the reset button before and successfully restored to the factory settings. I haven't updated the firmware since that happens. I didn't set it to any specific ip but its ip on the dhcp list was 192.168.1.113 and when i switched it to lan i just dud 192.168.0.113. I've tried running it and plugging it directly into my computer but i couldn't connect to any of the ip's i tried which were 192.168.1.99, 192.168.1.113, 192.168.0.99, and 192.168.0.113. those are all the ones i've tried connecting to while the miner is plugged into my computer via ethernet. What do you mean by set a static on pc on ipv4? do you mean in my router/modem settings?
If you know what network settings were on it you can log into miner via a static IP on a PC on same network settings. But you have to know settings, I'm not sure how you will do it with what you mentioned above.
Here is a good example from S1 day's look how he set's computer to static IP and directly connects. But you need to know the things mentioned in it to do it. - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/setup-troubleshoot-bitmain-antminer-s1-180ghs-miner-344970
I forgot to mention that i already tried the network troubleshooting on that page with setting up the ip on your computer. However, it makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever how he says to click "obtain dns server address automatically" yet you cant do that unless you obtain the ip address automatically too. You can even see in the screenshots in that post that "obtain dns server address automatically" is grayed out while "use the following ip address" is selected. I fail to see how to get past this.
There is also the issue that in that guide his bitcoin miner has a white sticker on it with an IP. Mine does not, at least not on the outside. I'm not sure if that was taken off or if it is not on the s3's at all.
