I applaud you trying to stick up for Shrem, him being a "pioneer" of sorts in this early days Wild West of Bitcoin history, but even he admits he was wrong...

“I knew what I did here was wrong. I’m pleading guilty because I am guilty.”

Whether he said it, because it would be an uphill battle, not a fair shake, yada yada...doesn't matter.

He owned his mistake.  He knowingly processed millions of BTC for the use of buying and selling drugs.  I'm not condoning buying or selling drugs, right or wrong between 2 parties...that's everyone's prerogative or choice.

If you get caught, however, an illegal act shouldn't go unpunished, and Shrem is guilty as charged.

Him being a pioneer is irrelevant, I would suggest the same for any human being regardless of their history or contributions.

Whether or not he believes his actions were wrong or just admitting thus for legal reasons, and whether or not he was convicted of illegal crimes is irrelevant to the point I am trying to make.

I want to support non-profit organizations that do what is right and ethical , whether in doing so they break laws or not. I am not defending Shrem specifically as I don't know him well enough but he should have never been punished and charged as you suggest for those crimes...  because those actions you cite shouldn't have been crimes in the first place. In his case the jury should have recognized the unjust laws and used jury nullification to bring justice in his case.

historically the Bitcoin Foundation had scum city at the very top man....

-Charlie Shrem, also founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation.  BitInstant founder and Money launderer.  Funded Silk Road

I don't disagree with part of your premise. But one must make a distinction between what is legal and ethical. I see absolutely nothing wrong with money laundering for the silk road ethically. I personally wouldn't do this because the inherent risks.... but praise those that facilitate in protecting the privacy and anonymity of peaceful adults  trading in a consensual manner.

It would be far more accurate to castigate every tax paying citizen for all the human rights abuses and murders that have been paid for in their name and with their financial support.

In summary , there are other examples you can cite which support your central thesis like KnCminer and other corrupt companies with past relationships within TBF.

Are you seriously suggesting RodeoX that the Bitcoin foundation election process is open and transparent when you have to pay to vote for these people? The bitcoin foundation has and always will be a joke, the peadophilia accusations not just from random people but from people who have specific stories is just making things worse.
I'm saying if you think that crap is what the foundation is all about then you don't know what they are doing. I work with the serious and smart business people who are members. You may not know their names because there is nothing salacious about them, but they are the people who make things happen.
The way I operate is to engage and change things I don't like. That includes things within the foundation. I don't complain like a victim, I don't point fingers, I throw punches. Sure I did have to pay to join, but where do you think money comes from? I also pay to join the NRA. I don't agree with much of the NRA's platform either, but they are the player if you want in on the influence game.

The bottom line for me is that a failure to influence public and private policy is a loss for the bitcoin community and economy. That is why I have donated my time and BTC to the foundation. It is not what I would have designed, but better than doing nothing and just hoping everything will somehow be ok.

It's one thing if one member of the whole foundation is crooked, but it's not just one and not just random members, but actual executive board members.  They may not be there now, but were executive board members as of very recently (2014).  Now I know they're trying to damage control now, but historically the Bitcoin Foundation had scum city at the very top man....

-Mark Karpeles, founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation.  Mt. Gox...need I say more
-Charlie Shrem, also founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation.  BitInstant founder and Money launderer.  Funded Silk Road
-Brock Pierce, I already mentioned his profile with diddling and sexual abusing underage boys...Nuff Said.

1 bad apple or actor, sure, it happens.

3 and you got a goddam Pandemic, my friend.  Scum from the top down...and it's not debatable.

We need a viable competing group, but how would they gain momentum?

Cody Wilson is trying for it, but yeah, the thing is it's their own special little club and they're just going to keep finding ways to make sure they're in power, just like real politics!

The grooming, according to the lawsuit, started almost on day one. Egan remembers being pulled aside by Collins-Rector, Pierce, and Shackley for hourlong one-on-one lectures about how they had gaydar and they knew that Egan really was gay (he says he is not). He remembers the ban on the wearing of clothes in the pool or hot-tub areas. And he remembers being locked inside a gun closet for resisting Collins-Rector’s advances. He also remembers the drugs—Valium, Vicodin, Xanax, Percocet, ecstasy, roofies. In the years to come, several other young men would come forward to talk about inappropriate behavior by the executives of DEN. There was a boy named Daniel who, according to a 2007 account of DEN’s rise and fall in Radar, wrote a suicide note that his brother intercepted before he could act on it: “I can’t go on. I let them use me as a sex tool. I let those assholes do all those terrible things to me. Good-bye.” There are several boys, including Egan, who would recall Collins-Rector aiming a gun at them and threatening to pull the trigger. And there was the boy who, in 2000, filed a lawsuit in New Jersey claiming Collins-Rector repeatedly sexually abused him from 1993 to 1996. Collins-Rector denied those allegations but then settled the suit shortly before leaving the company.

Yea...No, I don't want to meet known pedophilia ring leaders.

And take off that signature on the side there, it's embarassing to represent a scum foundation that openly allows people of this nature.   Undecided

Well I also am a citizen of a country that openly allowed George Bush. I did not vote for the people you have mentioned, but there was an election and they won. Should the foundation have canceled the election because they didn't like the outcome? Should only people approved by you be allowed to run?

South Africa To Host Bitcoin Conference In April

Right now it seems that a lot of members seem to favor Mr. Mark K., a longterm bitcoin enthusiast out of french. Let´s hope he wins!
Yeah, it looks like it will be down to him or Ross Ulbrect.  Cheesy

Magic Mark K and Silky Ross Ulbricht make a fantastic tandem!

What about their other compadre, that mighty duck dude that might like underage dudes?

Let's pull for all these fine fellows for the Scumbag...I mean Bitcoin Foundation!
Have you ever met any of these people?
