I feel bad for you man. 3.5 BTC is also a big chunk of money in my own point of view and I definitely don't want to experience the same thing that you encountered. This is just a big reminder to everyone here in Bitcointalk to take care of the wallets that you are using right now. Take care of all the details about your wallet that is very important especially its passphrase or private key. Back it up in any secure place or location.

Did you lose the private key to 1DGLZ2cDMrUPor4CmWxjsVzzYSyimUUYbC?

If so you should probably take it out of your signature.

I think it was not that address, I checked it and no transaction appeared.

Thanks for sharing us your story, though I feel sad to what happened and hope you remember your password to your wallet.  This will serve as a reminder for us to always make sure we have a back-up for our password and keep it to a safe place.

Such a long story but sometimes it can be happen even me i can forgot my passphrase.. that is why right now i am taking action and change my habit when making a wallet just to be safe and never forgot the password..
Notepad is always there that we can take note seeds password or any important needs to be save for a long time so that you will not lose your own hard work of saving them for a long  time.. in my experience is i forgot my wallet password in my dash i have mined lots of dash before but stop because its not profitable for me before.. and this  year we seen that the price of dash was increase that honestly not expected and i am trying to recover and get my dash coin to sell them but i am failed so next time we need to take note all important things back them so that yo will not lose in the future.

And the coins are on a BTC core wallet, on my laptop. Had made usb copies of my .dat at first but they're encrypted as well.

I pretty much tried everything, even the scripts made to try millions of possibilities from what you input.

No luck.

Yeah, price is at a peak, I need money and I see it in the wallet, it's pretty much the definition of torture.

No matter how paranoid you are, you should always have the private keys either on a piece of paper, or something more durable in metal form. It doesn't require much effort to find a good place to store them. I once (by accident) deleted one of my wallet files, which had like 0.10 BTC in it, but still it didn't feel good. I could have gained access to my coins if I just extracted the private key from the digital wallet file before all that. It's an important lesson -- right now I have all private keys saved externally, offline.

Nope, that is my empty online wallet "fortunately".

Sorry to hear it, bro.  What kind of wallet were you using?  And yeah, that's the danger of crypto--no protections that we normally get with bank accounts, so it's our responsibility to keep the money safe.  Sucks, man, and I'm not normally one who doles out much sympathy here.

Hey guys,

I just want to share my story, because I feel like only people in this community can get that,

We all know the pizza story, the "young swede than became a millionaire in 2013" story, the lost hard drive story and this one that can happen to anyone:

======>I lost my passphrase. 6months ago, tried everything, even hired "bitcoin dave", nope, nothing, no password no bitcoin.

I was too scared to get hacked somehow or to let a piece of paper with indications about it... Now I'm screwed, I can't find it, no matter what I try my Bitcoins are lost forever. I always kept them, spent .10 of them once and that's it. All of my fortune behind this password was made through mining dogecoin on day one and other altcoins. And guess what, I lost the passphrase to the dogecoins too (1million Doge, could be worse)...
6 months ago I had a little financial down moment, decided to see if I could sell one, and discovered that I forgot the password.

Now, it would be the thing to save my ass (3,5 BTC is a good chunk of change for me) and be able to get back on my feet, and I feel so stupid.

Just wanted to share my experience, kinda looking for mental support here!

Take care (and remind yourself your passphrase everyday, you don't want this feeling I swear).

Jesus man.

Always the worst nightmare when you can't find whatever you stored your bitcoins on that was supposde to be 100% secure. I mean technically the coins are still secure but nobody has any access to it anymore.

And to lose these bitcoins just when it's peaking at over $1,300, and dogecoin is rising steadily as well... That's insult to injury...

Any information about where you stored the coins? Whether it's just a private key encrypted with a password, or is it stored on an online service?

Did you lose the private key to 1DGLZ2cDMrUPor4CmWxjsVzzYSyimUUYbC?

Probably not because it has 0 transactions on that address.
