This site definitely works.. was able to transfer funds to and fro without incident. Glad to see a Canadian alternative for all this Bitcoin stuff. Site will grow in time, needs more buyers for sure. Peace

And currently it's selling for less than Mt.Gox's price when CAN is worth more than USD so it makes for a nice buying opportunity.

Its back up!

1% fees on trades, pretty nice.
The limits are up too, should be a nice stable trade.

New news update from them today:

"Our launch date is approaching and will be announced within the week! We are working very hard on the following: 1) Migration of our beta servers to a new server infrastructure with heightened security. 2) New Terms of Use created by our legal team. 3) Compliance with Canadian anti-money laundering policies as well as GST and CRA policies. Operating a Bitcoin Exchange in Canada is a ground breaking endeavor that involves risk on our part. The delays with going live have all been due to our mission of providing a secure service for you as well mitigating our risk. Unlike other exchanges, we choose to operate in the country of residents we service. We will comply with regulatory bodies and are undertaking research and obtaining legal advice to make this exchange a reality! When choosing us for your Bitcoin exchange, you can be confident that you are dealing with a company that is performing due diligence and is located in Canada."

Does this mean (among other things) that they're going to be charging 5% sales tax on every purchase?  That seems like it will basically kill it as an exchange.

Are they taking deposits yet?  Supposedly cutting off new deposits until out of beta.

Doesn't look like it.  That's unfortunate and I hope they don't intend to keep going this way for long.  Even aside from the recent price volatility, the depth of the bid market is very shallow already.  There's not enough cash in there to make it flow as an exchange.

God are they gonna open deposits or what?  Cry

Just trying it out today. Made my trade yesterday and sent the CAD directly to my account. Just waiting the day or so for it to show up.

Sold some BTC, direct deposited my earnings to a Scotiabank account. A fine service.

Can totally verify that this place works, I got into it around the 9th or so and even deposited some funds.

In retrospect I'm glad I did since they've hit their deposit limit for the beta phase.

Seems to work really well, I'm glad that thing exists and if you already have a TD Bank account, you're golden.

Alright thanks. I plan on using Etransfer anyways. Don't mind the additional fees, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I suppose I'll give Virtex a try next time I sell. Maybe try buying later on once I confirm it works at least one way.

One thing I would like to see changed about the account info settings is the fact that after entering my bank account information, it remains visible for anyone to see. If my account were to become compromised, I would hope there would be stars or some type of mask to hide my info.

Could you please be more specific? What sort of bank account information does it want you to enter? I'm still a little skeptical and am not willing to try it out until I get some more information. Now that a senior member has tested it I'm not as worried, but I still would like more info.

If you just use etransfer to withdraw your money you don't need to enter banking information, though the fee is higher than with direct deposit.
