Howbout moving all Shitnero related threads straight to the garbage?

Great grave digging... This thread was more than 2 years old.. Although it may still be a good idea to get subsubforums for the larger coins and move all discussion there... And a "other" section for all the other garbage.

nice idea i like it  move all discussion there... And a "other" section for all the other garbage.

so how about some shitcoin life more than 2year ?

this has been raised before, and Saltyspoons response was for people to use the naming convention [LTC] at the start of the thread title.

The big problem with this is there is not even an ignore thread feature, nor a saved search feature. So not only can't you focus in on just the topics you want, you can't ignore the others.

Given that this forum is seems to be locked in a time capsule when it comes to feature development, it seems like using the capabilities it does have (creating subforms) as a workaround is the best possible.

As far as Bitcointalk vs. Altcointalk if I'm not mistaken most of the traffic is in the altcoin section, i.e. that's where the bread is buttered and I don't see it going anywhere. Maybe to reduce confusion among people who don't understand what is going on they should just rename bitcointalk.org to altcointalk.org and move what little Bitcoin discussion is still here down to its own subforum.

And its true I am a necromancer, but I honestly try to pull up only the more interesting / perhaps still relevant threads. And I'm trying to see how often the Maneuro spamteam pushes their threads to the top. I'd say its like clockwork. They probably even have set schedules.

Well, in this case it's working: Monero's movin' up.

Actually, I've noticed a pattern: when Monero threads flood page 1 of this board, XMR reverses its trend. The last time, it was ~0.004 and turned down. The time prior, it was lower than it is now - and it headed up.

Since XMR is taking off, the pattern's holding...so far...

I bet you it will go back down before too long. But yeah, its working... Too bad its not a very technologically sound coin. If it was, it wouldn't need constant pumping and cheerleading.

I think it's his hobby to bring dead threads back to life, I have seen quite a few being resurrected over the past few days. He is some sort of crypto-forum necromancer. Smiley

But to the topic at hand, I agree with what has been said that this is supposed to be Bitcoin Talk Forum, not altcoin talk. Be thankful that there is an alt section at all, so let's not push the hospitality of our hosts.

I tend to feel the opposite way. Our hosts clearly need us to sustain their livelihoods as they rake in pretty good cash via advertising.

I don't think we need a section per coin..

We need a 'Technical Altcoin' Section..  Grin

Where we can discuss technical / programmatic issues about alts.

Without all the speculative / religious / general Alt coin banter.. much as I like it..

As request in the title, with the sudden surge in interest in various other crypto currencies, and this being the ONLY place to hang  Tongue

Any chance we could perhaps get some sub forums sorted out?

Just off the top perhaps:-

Litecoins
Bytecoins
Namecoins
PPCoins
All Other Coins

With the raised interests we need to sort this mess out before it gets unruly and a job no-one wants to do.

im not sure theymos do it
This forum is focus for Bitcoin ( look at domain name bitcointalk.org) '
If you want to discuss more about litecoin you can discuss it at litecointalk
as it also if you want to discuss peercoin

Nah, this is bitcointalk, not altcointalk/cryptocointalk. We'll have to add all kinds of subforums that might just die off one day.

i think you bring up a good point john. Perhaps someone should buy up altcointalk.org

Why not work on the idea that as soon as a coin has a market value greater than $20M or so, it automatically gets its own sub forum?

It would make life easier in the long term as alt coins are just going to keep coming! Wink

Well can we at least get one for Litecoin...? It's trading at around $4 for a good few days now and without the DDoS would likely be a bit higher making this by far the second most popular coin. MtGox has also confirmed adding it to it's trading index. I'm not saying it needs a whole great list of forums like it's older brother BitCoin has but sure this is enough to mark it out from the crowd of others.

The problem is many coins come and go in and out of fashion... the full list of coins is extensive and not some 3 months ago there was request for subforums LTC, PPC, FRC, TRC seemed the popular at the time... then some people wanted RUC... but where that ended up? so stick to SaltySpoons recommendation and start ur threads like:

[WTB][TRC] - Want to buy TRC for and alt currency pls...

or

[PPC] Help wallet doesn't seem to load blockchain!!

I support this as well. There's a tradeoff between things being too granular versus too general, but I think that at least in the case of most of what's been mentioned, it's worth a look.

I support this, I'm not too sure about whether there should be a BTE forum or not, but I'd like there to be one.
