I like those coins that are actually chocolate wrapped in a shiny foil and are made to look like a coin. You probably can't sell them for much, but you can unwrap them and have a nice chocolate treat. Besides, they will probably hold their value much better that most altcoins.
Of course bitcoin. Any doubt about it ?

But the question didn't specify Altcoins, and Bitcoin and most altcoins are pretty much joined at the hip, so I'm saying Bitcoin too.

Funny how this type of thread always draws the Bitcoin shills as well. Since this is the "Alternate cryptocurrencies > Altcoin Discussion" section it's probably a safe bet that the OP is in possession of Bitcoin and is likely looking to diversify. Thank you for your typing efforts though.

I noticed many coins come up to insane levels and then get beaten up badly. One coin always kept my attention and I personally think that in the long run NXT will do very well, just look at the epic features they are making and the development. It is however still a very close and small community but the coins sits tightly in top 10 bangling around .. 
looking at the cycle it has been through It could go up *8 atleast which is also a good shorter term speculative investment in my opinion if you are that kind of investor.
It's the only coin I own a bit of besides some bitcoin, but I'm very conservative in the crypto world

NXT and BTC.
Most of the shitcoin market will wither away and die because it's just morons trying to play musical chairs and steal btc from each other aka pump and dumps.
NXT is out there being promoted at conferences and being researched by regulatory authorities.

Now? Nope. Save fiat for now.
No such coins will definitely go up in value in the future. Even the price of bitcoin declines a lot from the peak of 2013! No one can make the investing decision for you! You have to do your own research before investing your solid money.
In my mind i think that there are some coins which will go up in value in future are . first is Bitcoin , second Monero <3 , 3: Dogecoin .
i think great coin to invest dash, crove, dogecoin and xrp for shorterm
and dont forget to buy btc too and hold for longterm.

Save your money (btc). Good coins have been and are still trending down including btc.
Of course, there are still shitcoin pumps that relieve newbies of their money.
Oh yes, and let's not forget the ICO coins. There is a whole bunch of those you can lose money on.

I see this question asked repeatedly in this forum. You're highly unlikely to find the correct answer here. Better to ask a kindergarten class.
The answer to your first question is that no coin, in this moment and time, is a "great" investment. Your second question assumes that some coins will go up in value. You should consider that all coins might go down. If you could short the entire market, that could possibly bring the greatest profit.
Look outside into the world and see how many consumers are using cryptocurrencies. Ask yourself which one you would most likely use and where would you use it. If I had to guess, Bitcoin is probably the safest investment. The remaining choices are little more than lottery tickets at present.
Perhaps you can find a coin you like and donate your time and efforts to helping it succeed. That's what is needed.

The coin that has the most active development behind it, the largest community supporting it and comes closest
to reaching parity with its ATH (all time high) price. Its also the coin that isnt afraid to change name when it needs to.
