i like to do some trades here and there, but it's better with altcoin, and not so much with bitcoin, also now it's even more risky, better to buy some cheap alt

I used to trade stocks but then I switched to crypto. Trading crypto makes stocks look so boring. Who has time to wait a decade for something to double when you can invest in an alt coin and watch it quadruple in one hour

Slight thread-necro there but I agree. You can also get burned like a mofo trading crypto though, even if you think you've "got it."

The following is a story from trading stocks today. If you are not interested in trading stocks and prices it might bore you, I don't know.

Hey guys. Made 2 big mistakes today trading stocks. When I finally got around to checking my brokerage account's watchlist, I saw that ISR was up from $1.10 to $1.93. This was already around a 70% increase, which in my opinion you don't see very often. Usually if I am late to the party and a stock has already went up 70%+, if I jump in and buy, everybody already has sell orders executing because of the day's rises, then I get burned. Today I had seen the huge volume in it, this was around 2 pm, and the price at $1.93, I set a limit order to buy at $2.07, but watched as it climbed and climbed. Was going to raise my buy limit price to $2.10 but then decided to watch it live on my phone while I had a "market" buy order ready to click on my laptop as I saw the price drop to the lowest possible. Anyways, somehow my waiting hand accidentally clicked "buy" on my order and I bought 75 shares for $2.38. I thought to myself- Damn it! I thought everybody was going to continue selling and I had accidentally bought it way too high. So then I waited. I saw it steadily rising a little at a time, so I figured if I could pull off $2.54 a share I would be able to squeeze out a little in the positive. So I waited and waited some more. Then I saw it start to rise pretty fast. As it neared $2.50, I went to again cancel my limit order of "sell" for $2.54 and try to squeeze out the highest market price available. Long story short there- The price continued to raise. I ended up not cancelling my sell @ $2.54 order, it executed without me knowing, and then I sadly watched as the price went up further from $2.54 topping out at $3.04 for the day. It opened at $1.10! This stock went up from $1.10 to $3.04 today, nearly an 180% increase and nearly tripled. I kicked myself for not going all in at $1.93. Today's volume was around 87.39 million.

Anyways, does anybody think ISR will continue to rise tomorrow? @5thStreetResearch do you have any thoughts on that stock? I bought 58 more shares after-hours at $2.50 with money I will have settling tomorrow.

Sorry bud, I dont follow that one.  What a move today though!

@TrollboxChamp
I have an individual brokerage account with Scottrade. If you are looking into getting a trading account with a legitimate company, starting out as a basic trader - more advanced trader, I would recommend it. $500 min. to open. Basically $7 flat to buy, and $7 to sell. Stocks under $1 are a tiny bit more. You can get a check or wire transfer anytime if you have settled funds available (3 days min. after shares sold).

But anyways- as far as marijuana related stocks, I definitely do recommend them just in my personal opinion. I've owned and traded MJNA a lot and also CBIS, both of which have been doing pretty well lately. So those but also I watch GRNH. There are a few marijuana investing advocacy groups really promoting a lot of other listed companies, so there are a lot of others to look into. The way I see it, investing in marijuana could be a temporary "bubble," but in the long-term I think things are only destined to rise as legalization continues to spread, this is something I believe in so I definitely don't mind investing in it. All of these comments are just my personal opinions by the way.

Trading BTC, looking for amazon cards
I played with stocks for about a year back in 2012 and i really didn't do very well so i sold what few shares i had and started putting more money into Bitcoin, Needless to say Bitcoin has been doing very well and i have made more money in Bitcoin in a like a month than i did in stocks all year.

Yea cryptos are a great way to make money fast... or lose money fast...

Its a bit like gambling. But slightly safer if you know what you are doing.

Diversification. Why would you sell your stocks (diversity) to put all your eggs in one basket? That's insanity.

try using interactivebrokers 1$ trades and u can trade basically any instrument with them, currency commodity bonds stocks derivatives etc.

If ur looking to do short term to mid term trading I would look into trading Forex cause u get great leverage and they are highly liquid.

I used to trade stocks for a hedge fund, but have been focused on Bitcoin mining, exchange, trading, arbitrage, among other aspects of the Bitcoin economy.

Bitcoin profits vs stock market profits are massive in favor of Bitcoin.  as for marijuana the most profitable thing to do is invest directly with  a good grower and sell it yourself, it doesn't seem that's what you're looking to do though...

variations in share prices depend on lots of things

Word, definitely. There are so many different factors that influence stock prices such as political/economic factors, company news, good/bad company press, new laws and regulations, WAR, etc. Way too many to list.

Thanks bud.  Keep studying and working at it and you'll get there.

Thanks man. Great idea with investing in casinos in the first place by the way. The house always wins, and they will continuously rake in that dough.

I have most of my capital in stocks and BTC is kind of a extra spice on my portfolio. I believe it has a lot of potential, but it's so risky that I'm not ready to bet on it big time. Also I like the fact that my stocks offer me regural cash flow in form of dividends. I have also allocated some of my BTC holdings to cryptostocks for the same reason I'm invested in regular stocks.

dont place too much trust in any stock traded on an OTC exchange... there is a reason they are there.

True, but many of the marijuana companies are moving up everyday towards full reporting. Props on working for that San Fran hedge fund too. Basically my dream job is day trading, with my own money.
