Yes, good nickname. My favorite is VII. 
I think my favorite in the series would have to be Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES. The one where you play as Tera and the Magitek suits. It was the first rpg that really blew my mind. With all the intricate details, the beautiful artwork, sprites and great story. Final Fantasy 7 comes in at a close 2nd. I really loved the feel of polygons with pre-rendered backdrops. And that game was revolutionary when it first came out on the PS1. Also enjoyed Final Fantasy 8 and 9 but I wouldn't say they're my favorites. I quit the series at 9 because they began to really dumb down the game for the newer generation. I heard it got really linear at 10 so I never bothered playing it.
Ahh, yes...the impossibly hard to beat water and desert monsters, I forgot their official names but they were hard as $&@) to beat.
Desert one: Ruby weapon
Ocean one: Emerald weapon
Not too hard to beat with knights of the round materia and max lvl mime, but that take hours upon hours of work to get to!
Damn thinking about it, I must dust off the old Ps emulator and play again. I used to sit the whole weekend without sleep, just playing final fantasy.

played each FF games from 7 till the 13 (except the online one). still have to play the first six since some of them revolutionnize the RPG type.
Never played it , but Final Fantasy XIV : A Realm Reborn looks nice , I watched some videos , but not free to play

I tried number 10 but I wasn't impressed with the way they changed the battle system. I would rather stick to my old FF games. Number 8 rules! Did any of you guys manage to find and kill Omega weapon? That was an epic battle!

Loved Final Fantasy 7 when it was released on the Playstation many years ago but sadly not much time to play games anymore so haven't tried 8.
