Between this Aug 1 deadline on scaling and ether going crazy I am a bit concerned. Media still going strong on bitcoin but wondering if the future is still bright for bitcoin.

As a matter of fact, I am a bit concerned about that matter. I personally do not know what will be the end result when the time comes (I am pertaining to the price of bitcoin) neither anyone. But since bitcoin's track is pointed upward, that we just have to hold onto this and hope all ends well. It's the best thing we can do as of know.

There is always, always, always something being fed to you to make you freak out. That's par for the course. If there's isn't an incoming apocalypse someone will rustle one up for us.

This, a thousand times this.

If you hang around long enough, you'll notice how Bitcoin seemingly has a new enemy that rears it's ugly just about every month or every few months. This has been going on for years now. Or there is some new "event" on the horizon, months down the road, that suddenly Bitcoin's life hangs in the balance over. "It's critical or it's over, Bitcoin is dead!" they'll cry.

And yet, Bitcoin lives on and does it's thing, seemingly to continue to increase in value more and more, despite all of the roadblocks and hurdles thrown in front of it.

The powers that be have to keep up the "Fear" and "FUD" factors going pretty much indefinitely. They can't ever let up. Without fear in the market, they can't keep people away long enough, or move the market when they want to. This will go on even years into the future as well, even 5-7 years from now if bitcoin were at $50K/btc, there would still be FUD going on. So just get used to it now.

That is why you should just ignore all the crap and just buy. Don't trade, just buy, hold and check back in a few years.

Like an earlier poster has rightly said, there is no need to worn yourself out about whatever will happen because you are not the only one involved  the people who are making the decisions as to which way to go knows the reason why they are doing that. We just have to wait and let things sort itself out and hope for the best which is yet to come.

no i am not "freaked out" at all. i am not even concerned at this point. UASF doesn't have enough support apart from people repeating it in the social media and many of those repeating it probably don't even run a full node.

the stats are low.
the mining support is not there.
the developers are not supporting it.

it is a good gesture but this Aug 1 thing from BIP148 is going to fail.
we will needa better and well thought UASF, not something that can lead to a chain split and that is why it doesn't have support from those who understand it like the developers.

But it looks like they are all geared for the Aug 1 UASF activation? I guess for me I have to wait it out and see what happens. I'm a little freaked out because it looks like a coin split is imminent and the price can go down. Well its just me. I just hold for now and really see how it goes for the bitcoin ecosystem.

I was afraid that panic will gonna happen soon. Masses are freaked out because they have no one who will tell them that everything with Bitcoin will be ok.
Bitcoin was forked once, but it was long time ago, and now barely anyone even remember that something like this ever happened.

The ETH Bubble is going to burst soon and a lot of people are going to lose a bunch of money. People are hyping the shit out of ETH and people

are falling for it. A open ended Coin cap is definitely not the way to go... Do not look at Crypto currency as an investment based on the Market

Cap. You should rather focus on the Coin Cap. https://coinmarketcap.com/

 Bitcoin = 16,365,350 BTC
 Ethereum = 92,119,181 ETH

Scarcity is fewer resources than are needed to fill human wants and needs. These resources can be resources that come from the land,

labor resources or capital resources. <---- Does this relate to Ethereum? NO.  Roll Eyes

according to price, also the way the whole world is moving forward with bitcoin, Japan still giving us a new good news every week, and so much new money coming in, ... i am going to say No, nobody is really freaking out!
and there is nothing to freak out at this point either. the Aug 1 BIP get more support first then start thinking if it is "freak-worthy" or not!

I am a little bit freaked out about this too but the best we can do is prepare for that day. Secure our bitcoin and if the price drops hodl to the maximum level. It can be a long wait again like that time when the price crashed after gox but it will eventually recover, like it always does.

Being a little bit worried is totally normal, you just shouldn't start panic selling when the time comes. The price should continue to rise these days as the Chinese exchanges are back to work and started enabling the withdrawal process again. Things will get cleared up in the next few weeks when most of the exchanges and bitcoin services decide what side they are on. (UASF/BU or whatever)

If we do find a solution for the scaling problem, Bitcoin could take off like crazy. I am also a little worried, given the crazy run up in all alt prices (not just ether). But I am going to hold and wait out the current uncertainty.
Yes, bitcoin is only staying back(though not really back) because of the scaling problem, if this problem is resolved I wouldn't be too surprised even if we reach over $5000 by end of this year. Segwit will also do a lot good for bitcoin, but I'm not sure anymore if that's in play anymore or not.

HODL is my mantra! I have never sold and continue to buy weekly. I was getting a little weak in the knees though with some of the doom and gloom posts by some of the posters. Thanks for the boost in morale!

All these years, one word has always stood the test of time:

HODL

Well maybe another word -- if people get cold feet prior to the potential fork:

Don't take the trollers words inside about bitcoin's potential or price. It been adopted and adopting by many countries and  international whales. As demand and supply covers the bitcoin, till that bitcoin will be fly like a rocket. Simply ignore and concentrate on holding the bitcoin. It has the bright future.

Future is still bright. Right now it is in a bubble but that is just short term volatility. Give it some time long term. The biggest threat to bitcoin is the fact that it is so volatile. Its investors buy into manias and frenzies so easily. It needs smarter investors - institutional investors. Bitcoin will never be used as a currency until real money goes into it. This will likely need to come from an ETF.

I've been researching Bitcoin every day since April of 2014 and many, many things have scared the shit out of me time and time again.  But Bitcoin just continues to roll on.

Bitcoin is the HONEYBADGER of money and has proven to me that nothing can stop it.  No ALTS, no governments, no forks, no media, nothing.

The most important thing I've learned so far is to HODL.

There is one way Bitcoin will go down the crapper and that is when another Crypto rises beyond it. This has been the story of every software product. Most investors pull profits out regularly and stay diversified.
