I wouldn't really expect that. Let's see after corrections are made but even after that it's not really that wise to expect that we'll even exceed 10k that quick much more 18k. Personally, even with this quick price hike, i'm still not going to be complacent.

Genius yeah that's right. by the way For BTC prices we all expect all the best, but up to 18K $ year later it will not be that much. Most only up to 10K $. If two years ahead there is to possible BTC prices reach up to 30K $ hope for the best. Just my predict 
maybe you were saying that bitcoin is impossible to reach $18,000 within this years but there's a damn chance. no obvious reason to why bitcoin will stick below $10,000 . Be optimistic

Not just actually a genius but a person who is wiser and wealthier. I am really hoping/wishing that Bitcoin would go on and on and will not retract what it already gained so far. I know that there will be some corrections but the trend should be up and up and away.
We should be happy that Bitcoin has gone to become a fulfilled promise for many people. I am sure that many are so happy with the continuing increase of their Bitcoin's value.

I love waking up everyday to new all-time highs, but this euphoria is getting pretty tangible. I'm seeing lots of these threads. The last couple posted today predicted a 50 trillion dollar market cap within a year, and prices of up to $60,000. And you are saying that buying anything under $18,000 will make us look like geniuses, so that means you expect much, much higher prices than that.
Maybe the time for a nice, fat correction is coming soon.
I think a correction is due soon. These prices seem to be a pump by whales. If so, they will be dumping soon. I still think bitcoin is going to keep going up in price overall, but this seems too quick
And I have an idea
That Bitcoin is pumped right now specifically to make people move funds from certain altocoins. If you look at the Litecoin price as of recent, it is almost stuck in a narrow range between 45-46 dollars per coin, though it obviously goes down in bitcoins. This looks pretty strange to me, as though someone deliberately tried to make this coin look very unappealing by, first, sort of freezing its price in dollars, and, then, by making it go down in bitcoins. Personally, if Litecoin went down in dollars, I would most certainly buy more of it, but I can't buy because its price is virtually stuck in that range. But I am ready to wait patiently as much as needed
I think you are right for most parts. As i am sure there are people influencing the market to benefit there agenda. That's what they call whales in crypto trading. When whales sell there coins, they move a large portion and many people will panic sell and follow. So be assured that some smart guys are getting ridiculously richer every year and i know it ain't me

I think that below $18,000 price for bitcoin is too much and i can say that only below $5,000 can be happy soon because we are getting closer and closer to that price and if you will buy below from that price and hold it for long term then you can still earn a lot of money from that investment. Just keep buying bitcoin and don't forget to hold it for long term.
It does not need time you can buy bitcoin anytime. In my opinion those who bought earlier are real lucky ones. And if someone buys them right now he will also be considered as lucky one because its values is not much according to its future. Where it will worth that much that a normal person will not b able to buy them easily. So buy it if you can.

There's a bit more to the story. There may be somewhat of an exodus happening from unregulated exchanges after what happened to BTC-e -- especially from Bitfinex, who just said they will soon be prohibiting US customers. The only way out of the exchange is in coins, since they have no fiat banking anymore. Since they lost banking in March or April, the supply of Tether has increased by more than 6x, which is also very suspicious.
i believe bitfinex started this after the rise has happened for a while. so it shouldn't have to do anything with their new rules regarding US citizens. I'm not saying that Bitfinex is purely responsible, but may be a large contributing force in the context of the broader uptrend. Bitfinex is the largest exchange in the West, so it can't be ignored that 1) they have no working fiat withdrawals, and 2) US customers need to exit their exchange. So this should definitely push the price up.
Tether can be used to soften this effect, by moving USD obligations to other exchanges (hence the huge recent increase in supply).

The higher the price is going up, the more respect I have for those who have started buying and holding their coins at the time the value was just a few bucks a piece. Imagine how things must feel when at some point the price reaches the $10,000 level for the first time, and you look at your total Bitcoin wealth while thinking back at their initial purchasing price -- that must be the most satisfying feeling on earth.
How things are going we will get to 10.000$ very soon, and that is not a joke. Some predictions from experts that next year bitcoin will be over 10k are looking very possible in this moment, every day is new all times high, what kind of power we wish to see more. If couple big countries follow Japan, Australia and legalize bitcoin I can`t see that something can stop bitcoin on its way to 10k and later too much more.
Anyone who bought bitcoin will be in advantage, no matter on which price bitcoin was bought, important is that you have it. At the moment early adopters are looking like genius now, for 10 year we will be early adopters and level genius but how we going to call people that are here since 2010? Some wise asses we are here, I hope year will be luck as this year was.

I read about way to control portfolio investments with similar idea - in period of time sold stocks that gave most of profit and buyed that did not do it yet. It is strategy works on growing market. So if market will continie grow it is good way to maximize profit.

OK... Let's analyze it.
Let's analyse it 2013 edition."If you buy under $100 you will look like a genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $500 you will look like a genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $1000 you will look like genius!" - happened.
"If you buy under $2000 you will look like a genius!" CRASH.
The thing is that every time there's a price increase, people start expecting the price to go higher. People set arbitrary limits at which they will sell but in reality they just set these higher and higher until they get so greedy that they lose money.
You just have to look at it logically. The price has gone up very dramatically already. In BTC's current state, if the price continues to rise it will be completely illogical, so it would make sense not to keep buying. Sure, the price could go higher, but it shouldn't do so and it can't do so forever.
If you buy, you have to understand that there are huge risks involved at this point and that you should be prepared to hold for a very long time.

OK... Let's analyze it. Has the 1st prediction come true? Yes. What about the second one? That one also have been realized. And the third one... those guys are sitting on top of 40% ROI as of now. So in short, I don't care whether it is without logic or not. BTC has given insane returns till now, and let's hope that this will continue for the future as well.

well genius is a very subjective word but if bitcoins price rose so high in the near future and at the same time you kept all your bitcoins then you might look like one to some
average people--the ones who are not fairly knowledgeable on this field but for those who are, you will not look one because making a wise decision doesn't make you one.

With that statement everybody on the forum would look like genius here. :-)
But the genius would be the person who will not sell his BTC even after the price of bitcoin goes up very high. The genius would be the one supporting the pump and not letting it down by selling the bitcoin for fiat.
Hope to see lots of geniuses supporting this all new pump. Bitcoin has always risen my adrenaline whenever I see the rise in price and notifications all around me. Hope to see this excitement goes up all the way to moon as we always thought.

Real genius are those who bought bitcoin by the price under 200$. I joined bitcoin just in that moment when the price was 200-300$ per BTC, but besides that fact that I hadn't money to invest at all, this sum seemed for me too high for such project as Bitcoin.
