Alt coin mining is still profitable with all class of mining rigs.

Mine some beginner coins, wait and sell it for profitable bitcoins.

That is what I am doing now, I am configuring my proxy server and have it balance between a few alt pools

I have sold 0.34082027 BTC. I probably could have made much more but I bounced between pools trying to find the one I liked.

Since the diff increase I am looking at ~.02 ever 24 hours

Got my blade last week, its mining fine at 10400Mhs, more or less 5 to 6 US$ per day. I made a custom box with 2 8cm fans, the heatsink is cool but the back is too hot to touch.

I needed a mining proxy from slush.

Many thanks for all the info.

How is your mining going Michael?

Don't forget to factor in difficulty doubling every 4 - 6 weeks - you'll probably find that you won't make back it's current BTC value. But, if you are paying for it with $ or €, it's probably still worth doing assuming that BTC continues to appreciate in value.

Just don't do what I did and bought a USB block erupter for 0.9BTC which has made me back 0.3BTC and now earns dust. I should have paid the $90 at the time and kept the 0.9 and I would have tripled my money.

If you think that BTC will continue to rise and it's easy for you to buy and sell BTC then just buy the BTC - it's less risky. If it's not so easy to buy and sell BTC then mining is an option albeit very risky.

Yes, they are getting more expensive. 15 days ago they were 330, now they are 400 US$ in http://bitcoinminerz.com
If all go well, I may buy a Prospero X-1 in march, is just a hobby and a little extra income.

I was just on black arrows website, one cannot buy just one of the X-1, the starting quantity is 20. I'm going to contact them about that.

Michael

Wow, thats a big let down. And they say they don't accept group buys. Sad Oh no

At 290 a device it was real promising. I imagine you will see them on fleabay for 300-500 a piece

Subject: X-1 pricing and quantity

Is there any consideration to allow smaller quantities for purchasing the X-1. Your X-1 would allow for beginners to enter the world of bitcoin mining for a reasonable price but having a minimum purchase of 10 ends up pushing beginners to the ASICminer erupters.

You have the opportunity to do something big for the bitcoin market, and I don't doubt you already have pre-orders for 10+ of the X-1, but I would guess you could be bigger with a smaller minimum.

Also on another note, I would like to become a reseller for the X-1 and X-3. What are your requirements for this.

Thank you,
Michael Hopwood

I have one Block Erupter Blade, bought it about 3-4 weeks ago and I am currently at about 70% of ROI not including increased resale value. I managed to buy one for $240 before they shot up in price. I average about .008 BTC/day mining on Slush's pool. This will decrease over time as pool hashrate grows.

If you are willing to wait up to 12 months to make back your money, by all means, get started! Just keep in mind it will take some time to make back your investment, I would consider myself lucky for hitting ROI in 4-5 weeks. I would like to expand my mining but I am currently holding off to see if new hardware releases, etc. affect prices of current hardware before I invest more. Just be strategic with it!

Liking your additude! Also bought blades at that price, we were lucky!

Just one quick note, I don't think I will make 7000 US$ per year, some calculators say I will earn money until february because of the difficulty. But my idea is to keep posting info here. Regards

The calculators are good to get an idea, but don't rely on them.

According to coinwarz I should mine 3500-3800 zeta in a 24 hour period. Right now I'm at 2375 going on right at 24 hours, so yeah I'm a little off.

Do I believe you can ROI in a year, yes. Do I believe you can solely rely on mining for income, no.

Hell, my ROI time frame just got extended as I just spent 840 on 2 more blades. Almost double what I paid for them not even a month ago.

Happy mining though, and if it doesn't work out you can use the blade to keep the yams warm, lol

Hi Michael,
I would like to own some BTC and break even in 12 months. I would be using a proxy and connected to a pool. This is just an experiment for me, won't quit my job to start mining.

Have break even on your hardware?

Thanks,
Oliver

ROI in 12 months is completely possible at $7 a day, 24/7/365 mining would net you ~$2500.

I haven't ROI'd yet, but then again, I'm mining alt coins now. If I don't mess with my setup I should ROI in about ~2 months. 24/7/365 should net me ~$7000.

Keep in mind price fluctuation, difficulty increase, and down time.

For me the biggest thing when starting out is I wanted results now so I kept switching pools.

Unless you have 1THs I wouldn't suggest quitting your day job. 100GHs can net you a nice profit to play with, but still not enough to rely solely on.

If you need help on setting up proxy server just ask. BFG Miner has proxy support for the blades, and of course Slush's Stratum Proxy.
